I've seen this idea floated a few times on the forum.

Let's say there's some team picking in the 7-10 range that isn't wild about this draft, maybe already has a couple of talented young scoring type, that could really use a young, elite defender.  A team that would be willing to trade down to #16 if they got Avery Bradley in the bargain.

Would you be okay with making that trade if it meant selecting Shabazz Muhammad?  Muhammad seems to fit the profile of the kind of guy Danny Ainge likes in the lottery.  He's athletic, was highly touted coming out of high school, has a knack for scoring, and is falling a bit in the pre-draft process because of he fell a little short of expectations under the high scrutiny of being a top recruit in his first year of college.  Harrison Barnes was a similar guy who Danny reportedly really liked last year.  Muhammad also kind of reminds me a bit of Tyreke Evans, another player Danny supposedly really wanted to trade up for.

Don't get me wrong, I love Bradley, but for a rebuilding team I think the value of a guy who is almost all defense and really raw / extremely dependent on other players in order to be productive offensively is somewhat limited.

On the other hand, it's not easy to find young wings with good size (6'6'') who have the potential to be 15+ ppg scorers.

no, rondo+bradley have nirvana with each other. its a really good backcourt duo that specializes in defense, and can really lock down anyone other backcourt.

Give Rondo+Bradley one more chance. We haven't seen 'em enough.

Don't like Shabazz' measurables for the league at all. One of the bigger overrated college freshmen I've seen in awhile.

By measurables do you mean 6'5''-6'6'' with 6'11'' wingspan for a shooting guard?

I guess I'm not sure what you mean.

I'm not disputing that he could be overrated.  I posted this because I think it's an interesting idea worth discussion.  I can't say that I'm an expert on Shabazz.

Not worth giving up arguably next years best defensive back court.

Even after watching a fair amount of Pac 12 this year, I don't have a good sense for what Shabazz brings. He didn't exactly light the league on fire, after tremendous hype pre-season.

Smells a little like OJ Mayo. Major hype, good player, but not necessarily a budding superstar like the media makes him out to be. Mayo has taken a tumble but still has value. I expect Shabazz will be a good, but not super star player.

So for me, sure, I'd take a flier on Shabazz for Bradley.

Yes -- but I don't think that offer will find any takers.

The thing about potential drafting candidates is that they may never pan out.

So we just gave up a steal on the draft with one of the best on ball defenders. Who was riddled with not one, but two shoulder injuries. Came off, did pretty bad, but his ceiling is still pretty high.

Imagine if Bradley could upgrade his ball handling, and spot up shooting from the 3?

What is a Shabazz?  Is that like some nasty rash you get from sleeping in dirty Mexican hotel rooms?

Smells a little like OJ Mayo.

Orange juice and mayonnaise?  Yuck, that's gross!

I would strongly consider it. I think best case scenario he could be a Paul Pierce type ironically or worst case a Nick Young. I'm pretty high on the kid but giving up Bradley is a tough decision
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

I think you're probably right.  The spectrum of reactions to this idea seems pretty wide, though.  So I think this is one that could find a taker if there were a GM who happened to really like Bradley and not like Shabazz / this draft all that much.
