And KG doesn't waive his no trade? Then what? Do we run it back one more time?

I think Dallas and Dirk is an interesting situation. What if they can't land anyone with that all that cap space?

I'm starting to think that Dallas and Boston are good trading partner allowing one of the teams to contend and one to blow it up.

Sullinger, Bradley, Green, Bass, Crawford, Melo and our 1st for Dirk?

Nope, just another team past its prime. I hate the idea of trading young pieces away for a guy like Dirk. Then we really will be the Bobcats when all is said and done

If Boston and Dallas made the type of trade you're insinuating, it'd likey involve us sending them one of, if not both KG/Pierce.

We don't have expiring contracts to offer them, while they have plenty of cap space/expirings to offer us.

I just don't see what we have that Dallas would want for the rebuild they'd be entering.

Or maybe we talk KG into going to Dallas with Pierce get their 1st rounder?

KG
Dirk
Pierce
Carter
Collision

Marion

Blow it up and start gathering pierces ala 2003. Except this time we don't need to take back and bad contracts and have some actual assets

That's a nasty team. The Celtics, I mean.

One way or the other I see Dallas as the trading partner. It makes too much sense to me. I would love to have Dirk in green to supplement one final real shot with this group.

What getting that pick for aging stars?

But it is just one year, then everyone clears off the books and we start fresh with a 29 year old Rondo that we can recruit with or trade for picks and youth.

Keep Rondo like they kept Pierce last time?

Build up from 32-44 win caliber squads? Late lottery picks.

Update: Nevermind question. I see you answered my question in the post right above this one. Keep Rondo and build around "29 year old Rondo". The age of Rondo is the only thing that makes me nervous about building around him. Not much time for Danny Ainge to get multiple stars around him before the tail end of Rondo's peak years pass by.

We're not.  Pretty sure Cuban has said that the team would not trade him under any circumstance.  Not that it's 100% set in stone, but I'd be willing to bet Dirk will retire a Maverick.
