I think he would have run our veterans into the ground from a minutes played standpoint.

I firmly believe he is shortening the careers, by a couple seasons, of both Deng and Noah with the workload he gives them during the regular seasons.

Remember when Doc almost got fired before the arrival of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen? Yeaaah wish we had Thibs.  :-\
No...actually I don't remember Doc almost getting fired.

I remember an 18 game losing streak and Danny Ainge the whole time saying Doc was his coach and he would never want anyone but Doc coaching his team.

I remember a ton of people on this site calling for Doc's head.

But I never remember him almost getting fired. Not by a long shot.

I remember a game when Thibs was here and Doc got thrown out of the game late in the third(?) quarter I think and then Thibs proceeded to leave all five players in the rest of the game without a single substitution and the C's lost.

Fast forward to current day Chicago where last year he ran Rose into the ground even though he was nursing various ailments, where he has run Noah and Deng into the ground this year, all the while having both players nursing various ailments, and is now running Boozer into the ground in these playoffs.

I am happy with Doc as our coach.

If Thibs was the coach, then the Big 3's career would have ended a couple years ago and Rondo would be averaging 47 minutes a game.

Thibs is equally bad as Doc, if not worse, in terms of minute management and overplaying your stars.

Ask any Bulls fan, Thibs is known for playing the heck out of his players.

Yup, it was against Houston if I remember correctly.  He's gotten better since then, but not a lot.  Guy is a great coach in terms of understanding and coaching the game, but does not know how to pace his team.

Thibs couldn't have done anything about our team's age, injuries, or lack of a big man.  I don't think much would be different, unless Doc's departure led KG to look elsewhere.

Thibs wouldn't fix any of those problems and he certainly wouldn't have managed the minutes of the old guys, but I also think he would have never tolerated the long stretches of non-effort we've seen under Doc the last few years.  Would Thibs have fixed that or would it simply have led to Ainge breaking up the core, who knows?

Remember this.  If Boston hadn't played so inexplicably badly under Rondo for much of this season, they'd probably have been at least the 6th seed and maybe even as high as 4.

  I thought it was Atlanta.

Looked it up and I think you're right.  Similar colors I guess.

Thibs is a great coach, but, his tendency to run his players to the ground would be a problem.
He would net us a better regular season record, but, a shorter playoff run as our vets would be broken down...

I can't imagine a playoff run under Thibs would be any shorter than it's about to be this year under Doc.

I think Thibodeu (sp?) is a better coach. I understand Chicago already has a talented roster but I think there's something to be said about how defensively sound the Bulls are.

Granted, because of KG/Pierce's age, it's quite possible Thibs wouldn't be able to get anything better out of the Celts than Doc has. But I do notice Thibs seem to light a fire under this team. As for Doc, he just seems like an average coach at best and seems content with the "flip the switch" mentality

Garnett and Pierce would play more minutes.  The offense would be worse.

The supporting cast would be more consistent and would know their roles.  The team as a whole would give more effort for more of the game each night.

They'd win more.

Then we would have a championship coach in Boston instead of someone who masquerades as one.

It would have been awesome.

The personnel would have been different.

I think we would've let go of Ray Allen a lot earlier.

We would still be at least top 5 in the east right now.
