Although I don't really care for the movie itself to be honest, from a historical sense 'Citizen Kane' has to be there. And really, it still kinda holds up.

the dark knight is really good. and i don't know if you can call it an opening sequence but i really like the Casino Royale Parkour Chase, this made me like the darker daniel craig bond than pierce brosnan.

I agree with a lot of the others already listed here.  "Dark Knight" was the modern one that came to mind.  Pulp Fiction for sure.

lots of great mentions so far but one I don't see is the Blues Brothers.  Classic intro.  "and one condom, soiled".  kills me every time

Patton was awesome as well.  killer speech.

I know there's many others that fail to come to mind.  Probably remember them at 3:00 in the morning (as usual).
