Amare is a big loss for New York. I thought Amare was the X-Factor that Boston had no answer. His scoring off the bench would've been very difficult for Boston to counteract.

Assuming he was able to hit the ground running, I agree.  But it's fairly likely that he'd struggle with his legs and his shot as he worked himself back into game shape and knocked the rust off.  An Amare that has problems scoring is an Amare that hurts the Knicks more than he helps; it's not like he's an impact presence on defense or on the glass.

Bass has got to take advantage of this and have a 28-point game.

Which potential matchup do expect him to exploit more, being guarded by Kenyon Martin or being guarded by Carmelo Anthony?

Bass really doesn't exploit matchups, he is the exploited

Bass has been our second-best player during this rest-skid-thingamabob and he's got the momentum we want for the playoffs. He's confident with his jumper and rebounding at 6.5rpg, which is good for us. I want to see just one explosive quarter this postseason, and we know he will make his hustle players. He's an underrated player (in Celtics fans' eyes) and could be our key to success (along with Jeff). With Amar'e out, I'm expecting big things from Mr. Consistency.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. If we are depending on Bass to exploit anyone in the playoffs, we are big trouble.

Why? I'm very curious.

If Amar'e is out, why wouldn't you want Bass to try to exploit a matchup advantage? Particularly when they put Steve Novak on him.

Exploiting a matchup advantage requires an advantage.

Bass does not have the game to exploit a mismatch. He is a jump shooter. If he was an effective passer/had  a hook shot that Tommy would love him to have, then he might be able to exploit a mismatch.
