PIERCE GREEN both on court, offense is there,

now pierce and green needs a rest, who run the offense terry? bass? crawford? that is why i want green coming off the bench
even in miami, its rotation pierce/lebron/green/battier
same is knicks

starting 5
bradley = defense
terry = offense
pierce = offense
shavlik = defense
kg = defense/offense

reserves
crawford = offense
lee = defense
green = defffense/offense
bass = offense/defense
wilcox = offense/defense

reserves
melo
t-will
white

i think that’s a balance line-up

what yours?

Killer line-up?

At point guard, Jeffrey Dahmer.  He can dish, if you don't mind that dish containing human body parts.

At shooting guard, Charles Whitman, because you want a sniper at that position.

At small forward, the Boston Strangler.  A Boston legend, just like Larry Bird and Paul Pierce.

At power forward, OJ Simpson.  You want a guy at that position who is willing to get his hands dirty, or at least his gloves, and it helps if he can get away with murder while toiling in the trenches.

At center, Osama bin Laden.  If you want to take down a big New York tower like Tyson Chandler, Osama is your man.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think Doc will play Green 40-45 minutes so when Pierce is off, Green is on and when Green is off, Pierce is on for that 5 minute period.

No reason to not let Green play every minute of every game like Rondo does during the playoffs. Same with Avery. Leave them on as much as we can.

In other words, our size mismatch against the Knicks with Green attacking the rim and stretching the floor for three pointers in the corner will be vital to us beating the Knicks.
They just don't have an answer for 48 mins of Jeff Green...who will they have guarding Green? And when that person goes to the bench, who's next?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

The New York Knicks play a 1-in 4-out system with one big man (Chandler) who is a great pick and roll player and a good offensive rebounder and 4 perimeter shooters. Shavlik Randolph cannot defend Carmelo Anthony, who would play most of the minutes at the 4 position. That would be a total disaster for us. To be honest, KG can't defend Melo 1-on-1 on the perimeter either. Only Green or Pierce can slow him down to a degree. The cannot completely shut him down. Melo is just that good.

You can't just say that because our line-up consists of a combination of "defense" or "offense" players, we have a balanced side. Players have different defensive and offensive attributes and a truly balanced side would need a good balance of those individual attributes. Categorizing players into "defense" and "offense" is too simple.

I know some people have been making the argument that we should make the Knicks adjust to us, and not vice versa, but that's not a good idea. The Knicks are simply a better team than us. They have 53 wins and we have 41. We have to minimize their biggest strengths first and then hope that our offensive match-ups is good enough to overcome our defensive ones.

My line-up would be:
Bradley
Lee
Pierce
Green
Garnett

Green now has better FG, 3PT, FT, TS and eFG percentages on the year than does the Captain.

Does he still really need Pierce telling him that he's the third scoring option and has to play within that framework?

No wonder Green's been challenged to be aggressive when he's in with both PP and KG.

agree with your line-up
but my concern is who is running the offense on your second unit? crawford? terry?
green can't play all 40-45 minutes in a 7game series
i know randolph can't guard melo, but i think k-mart would be the starter, so shavlik is ok on k-mart

We just need guys to stay in front of Melo really.  PP,and Williams come to mind, Green as well.   He is really a jump shooter so stay in front of him and affect his shot as best you can.   Make him shoot in spots where he doesn't have a groove.  Get a hand in his face every possession.  I think PP is the best to guard him.   Williams might not have the size or strength to guard him well but he has five fouls.   Green has ideal size but may be needed elsewhere.

Melo can shoot you out of game as easily as in one.

I can see this lineup playing minutes together...it'll be important for them to outscore the Knicks.

The playoffs, put your best players on the floor as much as you can. Bass has been playing well to end the season. This lineup give us our best 5 on the court.

Not sure about the other slots, but I'd like to see Freddy Krueger at SF and Jason Voorhees at PF.

(Didn't read the other responses until after I'd posted. Late to the party.)
