Wall has played well for one month.

Man, the Wizards are a playoff team with John Wall in the lineup for the whole year! Have you seen their record with Wall? They've been wooping teams all around. They probably could've got the fourth seed tbh.

But they aren't, because he's only played well for a month.  I'm actually a fan of John Wall.  I believe he'll continue to develop, I believe Washington has turned the page as a franchise and they'll start to make playoff appearances soon.  But repeat:  he's played well for a month, so he's not an All-Star.

You don't play forty to fifty games in a month >:(  After that 4-22 start, they're a playoff team. I had Washington in the playoffs (over Chicago) until Wall was dumb and injured himself

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
The question was whether or not Monta was overrated - he has never made an all-star team and is one of the least talked about 20 ppg scorers this league has ever seen. He is hardly considered a superstar, but puts up impressive numbers.

I think if you put him on a playoff team with a number of veterans, he would fare very well.

On somewhat related note, Jordan Crawford seems to have that 'it' factor when it comes to scoring. I hope we hold on to him. I have seen him live a couple of times and he never ceases to amaze me. Honestly, the guy has averaged 13 ppg through his first three years in his career and I don't think most people have ever even heard of him.

He also hasn't been a star-level player for the entire period since he returned.  Look at his stats.  There's a very clear jump in statistics from February to March; he went from average to good.  So the way I see it, he's played well since the beginning of March.

Again, one month of good basketball isn't enough to label a player an All-Star.  Or have you forgotten about Linsanity already?

The top nineteen scorers in this league were all either All-Stars or places under heavy consideration... Monta is eleventh. Is he the only one with such a massive shortcoming that it negates his scoring, passing and stealing?  ???

1. Volume scorers come a dime a dozen.  The fact that Ellis has never made an All Star team is a song that's been sung before and it's totally justified; the guy is a team killer and his numbers are inflated because he's a ball hog.

2.  I think if you put any player on a playoff team with veterans, they would fare well.

3.  Crawford averaged 13 points a game on god-awful teams, where he was the first option by default.  Not saying he can't score well (he can), just saying those numbers are deceiving.

Scoring - volume shooter, terrible percentages

Passing - has decent numbers, but is still universally considered a ball stopper

Stealing - Magic Johnson stole the ball quite a bit too, yet he was setting the world on fire with his defense (same could be said for Bird)

His numbers don't impress me, and they sure didn't impress the Eastern Conference coaches.

16 of the 24 players who turn over the ball most are either All-Stars or deserve serious consideration. Monta has the ball in his hands a lot.

Okay, are you seriously trying to use turnovers as a reason why he should be an All-Star?

Mrs. Green-Ellis, you can't be serious.

All-Stars are always the focal point of the team... or very close. If you expect Monta and All-Stars to average 0TOpg, then it's not gonna happen. He doesn't turn the ball over that much more than his peers.

CC, stop. Monta is not an all-star player and your statistics doesn't prove otherwise. Truth of the matter is, Monta is not even the 2nd best player on the "junky" Bucks. Sanders and Jennings are both more valuable to the team than him. Like previous posters have already stated, he's a chucker, he doesn't play defense, he's super inefficient. He's not a good number 1 option and he will never lead a team to the playoffs. Quite honestly, he'd be a better bench/6th man type player. I think J.R Smith would put up better numbers than Ellis if the two switch places.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

Monta is a good defender at the PG position. He just struggles when he is asked to defend players he shouldn't be asked to defend.
