 A different take on Wingspan.

Would you rather have Sullinger stand Seven feet tall and have a terrible wingspan 6'8" like Zellar.

Or would you rather have Sully be 6'8" like he is but have a wingspan of over 7'1" like he does.

I myself would take the 7' Sully with alligator arms. A seven foot sully with his strength would be perfect. Even with the short arms. I think something to remember with all the talk about length, is for big guys especially their eyes are 4" higher than that of a 6'8" guy. I big advantage.

Eh, we can get immediate help - and should - for Rondo.

Not interested in any projects in that deal.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

I think his physical attributes will be a good advantage (but not a dominant advantage) for C.Zeller at the PF position in a power-based offense but I would expect him to be a disadvantage for him at the C position.

I think C.Zeller would need either more bulk (to outmuscle more athletic fives) or quickness (to be like G.Monroe) to be as effective offensively, to create matchup problems for opponents, at the center position versus the big forward slot. Also, PF vs C, due to his deficiencies as a defender/rebounder. Inability to protect the basket at a high level.

I think he will need to move to PF position full time to fulfill his potential at the NBA level. And he will need to round out his offensive game with a mid-post and high post game (jump shot and passing skills) to make that transition. Which is part of the reason why I liken him to Laettner.

Even though the skill-set isn't quite there yet, I think it is the next natural progression of Cody Zeller's game is developing that mid-post to high-post game to allow his transition to PF at the NBA level. I think that will be his best position in the pros.

And, I think Cody Zeller will be a nice 16-18ppg and 8rpg guy at the PF slot like Laettner was for the first 5-6 years of his career before he tore his achilles.

So, I see his size advantage and skilled low post game at 7-0 240lbs at PF being the superior advantage matchup wise for his team. His best long term position.

Neither of those guys, but I think I'd trade him for Ben McLemore or Marcus Smart.  I think those two are the guys with star potential out of this draft.  I think Nerlens is going to be a very good defender, he'll get 10-11 boards, 2 blocks, but I just don't think he has the offensive game to be more then a Marcus Camby/Tyson Chandler.
do it

You don't trade superstars in their prime for a guy with a torn acl who has "potential"

I got confused by your post... I wasn't sure who you were calling the superstar and who you were calling a "guy with a torn ACL with potential".   I was gonna be like, "dude... Rondo's 27 now... I'm not sure how much more potential he really has at this point"

Fwiw, Rondo isn't a superstar.  He's not even the best player on the Celtics.  He's not even the 2nd best player on the Celtics.  I don't know enough about this draft to say whether or not trading him for a Top 5 pick would be wise.  I'd guess yes.  Top 5 picks are gold and Rondo probably has too much baggage to warrant much trade value throughout this league.

Rondo is an allstar definitely not a superstar.

Currently, he's not even the twelfth best.

Nerlens Noel tore an ACL too.

The end. Rondo is a top-3 playoffs monster, top-10 in the regular season. Not tradable.

"superstars" are usually the top 5 players in the league.

In their prime, Kobe, Shaq, KG and Duncan.

These days, LeBron, Durant, CP3... Dwight when healthy?  I'm not sure anyone else cracks the list.  Maybe Wade before he became Robin to Bron's Superman.  We're talkin about guys who can make you a 50 win team almost by themselves.

Rondo is a top 6 point guard... and others are creeping up and pushing him further down the list.
