I have been researching our remaining schedule and those for Chicago, Atlanta, Brooklyn, and the Bucks.  It seems that we are going to be the 6th or 7th seed.  I do NOT want us to jump to 4th or 5th as we would then play the Heat in the 2nd round!!

Would you rather play Indy or NY?  I guess that will be the question at the end of the year, since it seems to me we will be the 6th or 7th seed and NY and/or Indy will be 2nd and 3rd.

Thoughts??

Well, I don't care when we play Miami, because we HAVE TO at some point.

If I had to choose between NY and Indiana, I take NY easily, because Melo is a loser and I think our defense is better than their's.  if. We played Indiana, Id be confident too, because they are too stupid to take advantage of their size.  Just look at what happened against Miami last year.

Yeah I wanted to avoid miami as long as possible but honestly that might be the worst thing to do. If we're going to get miami we probably have a better shot if we get them early. Plus, losing that close to the finals is so heartbreaking. I don't want to go through it again. Id rather lose in the first or second round if its going to happen.

I'd rather play the Knicks than Indiana. Better match-up for us.

I think we have a chance ot pass the knicks as long as we sweep the last two games vs them

MVPPierce,

You may be correct about passing NY.  I really didn't even look at NY and just assumed they were out of reach.  They don't have an easy schedule and their West Coast trip could be brutal!!  They would have to lose several at home and we would, as you said, have to sweep them.  Nice point!!

  • It's what I do! It's who I am!
NY is scary because of the threat of them going nuts from 3 and The Pacers are because of their size.

I'd probably rather play The Knicks and guard the line and hope their shots don't fall

No matter who we face I think the series is going at minimum 6 games. Unless its miami, that has a chance to go 5 with them winning.

My preference would be the Knicks, then Pacers, and finally Miami....I think we'd have a reasonably good chance at beating New York, as I think we match up well.

I'd prefer to put off playing Miami as long as possible; one reason is that it increases the chances that one of their guys gets hurt.  While I don't wish injuries upon anyone, the reality is that players do get injured, well wishes notwithstanding (just look at us), and they make a large difference.

Play all three.

First, pacers (2v7)
Then, knicks (3v7)
Next, heat (1v7)
Finally, clippers (4v7)

Easiest path to eighteen

There has to be an easier path than that.

Unless we're a top 3 seed, we have to play each of the top three seeds (as seed 7 or 8 )

If we play as a 4th/5th seed, we can play:

4v5 (brooklyn)
1v5 (heat)
2v5 (pacers/knicks)

but we're not getting that high without killing ourselves in the reg season, so that's self-defeating

We are only 2.5 games from the fourth seed. If the Celtics can split the remaining road games, there is no reason why they don't get a 4 seed and get home court in the first round atleast.

The reason for staying away from Mia as long as possible is if they get injured early in the playoffs. Of course there is no way to time things as Bron could twist a knee on 4-15 and be back by 5/10...

We need some GOOD luck. REALLY good. In my life we have won and lost titles with injury luck. Indeed even way back in Russes 2nd year we didn't repeat because he was hurt. We need it to go the other way this year
