How is the trade awful? Did yall not witness Calderon performance yesterday? He had a triple double. Ed davis also was efficient (only playing the the 1st & 3d) & Ryan Anderson was letting it fly last night.

This trade will benefit us & the other teams needs big time. too bad it won't happen Danny!

You propose to trade a elite talent in Rondo (top five PG) without getting any elite talent back in return either in the form of established stars or top level prospects. You don't trade star talent like Rondo who is in his prime and on an affordable contract for depth.

I like Jose Calderon. I think he is a top 15 PG in the league. Ed Davis is a middle of the pack backup PF but he has some solid potential to him and could be a solid starter one day. Ryan Anderson is a very good backup PF to passable starter.

Exactly, the trade doesn't make any sense as frankly Green and Bass are nearly as good as Davis and Anderson (and might actually be better).  In other words, Boston downgrades pretty much across the board, which equates to an awful trade.  Now if Boston was receiving Calderon, Bargnani, and DeRozan in addition to Anderson, I think it would at least be plausible (though I still wouldn't do it).

This trade does work financially (though again I don't think it would get done, it is just more plausible from Boston's perspective)

BOS gets - Anderson, Calderon, Bargnani, DeRozan
TOR gets - Rondo, Bass, Lee
NOH gets - Green, Melo

That would put Boston's lineup as

PG - Calderon, Terry
SG - Bradley, DeRozan, Terry
SF - Pierce, DeRozan
PF - Bargnani, Anderson, Sullinger
C - Garnett, Bargnani, Wilcox

Not really sure that makes the C's a better team overall, but it does add a lot of depth down low and gives the C's a much bigger SG for the situations when they need one, so it is at least a plausible trade from that perspective.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

You're expecting Calderon to play like that on a regular basis?

Based on what?

Anderson has better stats then Green did when he was getting the same amount of minutes.  Two seasons now of better stats.  As he has increased his touches this season vs. last, his shooting percentages have increased and even his assist to TO ratio has increased.

He looks like a starting PF who is showing growth beyond what Green (who has hit a plateau early on) has done.

Green plays better defense. ANd Green can play the SF spot while Anderson can't. We can't rely on Kris Joseph as the Pierce back up, yet.

I am not saying make this trade.  Celtics need a bigger big man at this point.

But Anderson is the better player at this point.

You don't worry about backups if you can upgrade your starting lineup.

That said New Orleans doesn't make that trade so it isn't worth discussing.

The trade is awful for the C's, unless you think Davis is going to be a star (which I don't).

Anderson is a nice player, but nowhere close to someone you can build a team around.  He is a third or 4th option on a good team.

Calderon is a rental, and while still a halfway decent PG, he is not what he was 3 or 4 years ago.

Davis looked like an intriguing prospect when he was putting up solid numbers as a 20 year old rookie.  However, he has actually regressed since his rookie year, and it now looks like he is a questional prospect at best.

While I am open to Rondo trades, it only makes sense if you are trading him for an even better star player, or multiple players with the potential to be stars.  Not a bunch of mediocre pieces.

And this deal NOH laugh at.  They are loaded at the SG spot, and Aminu looks like their future at SF.  But mostly, they just have no reason to want to give up Anderson right now, unless they are getting more value.  For the same reason the C's won't trade Rondo for Anderson, the Hornets won't trade Anderson for Green and Lee.
