I didn't learn a thing from this game.  Result and level of play was pretty much what I thought it would be.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

We learned that this team isn't going to beat Miami by trying to play Miami's game.  We need to stay big to protect the rim.  As it was, this was a layup drill.

Yup... your absolutely correct... We need "REAL" bigs and PLAY BIG in the WHOLE GAME ,  like the LAKERS , to protect the paint, and make athletic teams like the HEAT win from outside.

Perk would have been more valuable clogging the paint , than Green standing around playing patzee with LBJ.

Green and LBJ must be what  BFF's ??? I don't get it.

If any part of this conclusion is true, and it might actually be, then Jeff Green at $9 million per was the worst contract of the offseason after all.

Jeff Green and Terry are very questionable on Defense

Jeff was a joke tonight. Disheartening to see after that preseason.

guy hasn't played in a real game in 16 months.....after heart surgery...he will get better

Just frustrating to see him with Ray guarding him multiple times and no one even looking to exploit that.

Great point... C's don't do a good job exploiting matchup advantages consistently. Additionally, they don't stick with the hot hand enough. Barbosa should have gotten more touches in the fourth

He's missed a whole season and he is going to need some time to get back into the swing of things. He looked like an absolute stud getting big minutes against opposing teams 14th 15th and 16th players in the pre season. But its going to take some time to work his way back to the NBA game play.
He already looks like what Jeff Green has looked like his entire career.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Healthy Ray Allen > Jason Terry.

Green has a use.  Let's just stop thinking it is as the Celtics bench all-star.

He is a poor mans Derrick Mckey.  More physical talent then his number may say, but not the mind set needed to offensively maximize those numbers.  He is not the defender Mckey was.

And the Celtic may very well need another true big man if they want to get past the Heat.  That great run came when Lebron was off the court.  This version of the Celtics match up well when the Heat are missing one of their three pieces, but not so well when all are there.

I am of the hope that as the Celtics team learns to play together, that last statement becomes less and less true.

I disagree.  I think our strength is going to lie in our speed and athleticism.  To have a successful season, we are going to have to capitalize on that.  I think we'll be able to outrun most teams in the league.

I watched a little bit of the Lakers game last night.  Although I was only watching half-heartedly, what struck me about that team is how slow they are overall as a team.  Sure, they've got a lot of talent, and a good front line, but I think teams will be able to outrun them.

I doesn't make any sense for us to model ourselves after the Lakers.  Our personnel is more suited to beating people with our speed.

It should be an interesting season.  I'm starting to think that this incarnation will look significantly different than the ones we've seen in the recent past.

What we really learned after that game against the Heat is that we definitely need Avery Bradley.
Lee did an okay job guarding Wade, but he got into foul trouble early on. I would guarantee you that Wade wouldnt have dropped 29 on us if Avery guarded him. Stay calm folks, just await Averys return ;D

In my opinion Avery is one of a kind player, he really reminds me of Joe Dumars. The sky is the limit for this kid, we really shouldnt trade him yet. Would have nothing against trading Bass and Green for J Smoove tho ;D

What I learned:

1) Offense will be dynamic and [dang] good this year
2) All the rookies are well still rookies
3)That Ray Allen guy can still play (duh) but both teams came out better for him choosing to leave..
4) This is a big one our.... offense and bench may be taking a step forward, but until the new guys get integrated the defense looks to be taking a step back....
5)Also I'm not sure yet but I think with all these guys who can take people off the dribble, plus the new personnel all these turnovers may be the cost of doing business...

Two things stuck out of this game :

Our offense is so much better than last year's (and the years before). I was amazed to see how we managed to score on almost every possessions, without ever enduring a dreaded scoring drought. And our offense was that efficient with Green and JET basically being non factors so I feel very good about it going forward.

However, our defense was bad, very bas. We never got stops, never mind multiple stops in a row. Hopefully this will change going forward (logic says it would with time and habits).

Finally it remains to be seen if Green and Terry will keep being that bad but then again logic and history says no.

What I learned...

Last night was only the 4th time in the last 313 regular season games that the Celtics allowed an opponent to score 120 points or more.  That really tells me that our defense is a work in progress and has quite a ways to go to return to the elite level of the last few years.

I guess I learned that the Celtics can score 107 points and lose. That being said it tells me they can score even with KG, Green,Sully and Terry all having sub par games.
To be honest i found the game to be pretty entertaining.
I mean really, the Heat have an excellent defense and yet the Celts put up a lot of points.
I pretty sure the defense will improve as they play more time together and learn the assignments. Also to be honest, as much as i didn't think they played good D, the heat weren't missing either. I mean Battier, Ray, James even Lewis knocking down 3's.
Call me crazy but I'm coming away from this game feeling okay about this team and still believe they can beat the Heat.
Lastly I would like to say I did not like it whey Jeff Green was the biggest guy on the court for the Celtics. I'm thinking they might like to have at least one big guy out there, just in case there is a rebound to be had.
