the surgery on both ankles hasnt helped much, and he might still need more treatment

shooting 29% from 3

Again, any complaints? If Ray came back, people would question Danny's thinking for giving him 2 years 12 million and a no-trade clause. Face it people, we would. I'm glad he's gone, and I'm glad that his injury problems are screwing over Miami. They wasted their mini MLE on him and there is no way out until the season ends and possibly more.

Courtney Lee and Jason Terry are better players at this point. They bring more to the table and I wouldn't be surprised if both have higher scoring averages than Ray. Danny was a genius to bring them both in. He was even smarter not to bring Ray back.

What is a little pain to bare, after all he is in utopia,  he is getting to be with people who appreciate and understand his wants and needs ...bbf's Wade, Bron , Riley.

All the best ... may he get everything he deserves.

I expected that Ray's ankles would hurt him for the first half of next season, much like they did his first year in Boston.

Still, losing Ray and getting Courtney Lee in his place looks better and better all the time.

This may be one of the all time examples in sports of people being saved from themselves.  Even if Avery had started, you know Doc would have still run Ray out there 30+ minutes a game and almost all the crunch time minutes at the end.

This is a big reason why I wasn't worried about losing Ray.  I don't believe he can be effective playing meaningful minutes for an 82 game season + 6-8 weeks of playoffs.

He's healthy enough to stay active most of the time, but fragile enough that his body will be worn down by the end of the season.

Miami should be thinking in terms of planned rest for Ray if they want him to be a key contributor in the playoffs.

The real question is, which are more sore, Ray's ankles or his feelings?

Seeing as we keep getting sour-grapes quotes from him backstabbing the Cs in the Miami media, I'm inclined to think it's the latter.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Squatting over Ray AND release.  Too much?

Agreed. Lee can shoot the three ball (obviously not as deadly as Ray once could) but makes up for that with pretty killer intense defense... Add a little side dish of Jason Terry and everything become a no brainer.

Not if you consider that that big middle finger Judas thrust up there probably caused the release.

Well, for what it's worth - I'm glad that BOS got, apparently - the BEST Ray Allen. He was on the tail end of his prime when he got here (32), and BOY did he give BOS some GREAT memories....

He is 37 now, and Father Time won't be too kind to him at this point. I'm sure he will eventually cause pain and misery with his shooting to some teams (hopefully NOT us), but Ray Allen gave BOS his BEST years.

Thank You, Ray Allen!

These ankles of his will probably bother him for a while, like already stated in the thread. I'm thankful that Danny has shored us up with Jet, Lee, Barbosa and Co in his place.

It will STILL be strange, on Oct 30, to see him on the other side. But let me be clear:

I hope (and expect) BOS to put their collective size 12's, 13's, etc - all up LeBron and Co's behinds on that day - and do it again in the playoffs.

And PLEASE BOS - don't let Ray Allen kill us.

And speed (from Lee), with translates into more easy layups and dunks.

poor Ray   :'(

Let Bron and Wade start questioning the signing when Ray has those 'off' nights and especially if he has those FT problems again this season.
