Hmmm, Mario Chalmers doesn't think Rondo is the best PG in the game.

But future HOFs Jason Terry and Jason Kidd DO think he's the best.

Interesting...

Also Magic Johnson.

Of course, if Mario Chalmers says Rondo isn't the best, it must mean the collective opinion those three (and more) is flawed.

We all know that those guys were just speaking figuratively or hyperbolically when they called Rondo the best point guard in the game, just as we all know that nobody outside of a handful of mouth-foaming, delusional homers actually thinks that Rondo deserves to be mentioned among the game's top players.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Celtics18 - I had to LOL at your underlined comment here - NOT AT YOU - but at the comment.

So you don't think that Rondo deserves to be mentioned among the game's top players, yet?

Especially when Chris Brousard, whom I believe has looked down upon the Celtics in general, IMO - recently spoke well of our PG?

If we are considering the current league top players - we have LeBron, then a small gap between everyone else, IMO.

LeBron

CP3
Dwight
Deron
Kobe
Wade
Griffin

etc, etc...

Rondo?

So you still don't believe that Rondo could be considered among the league TOP players?

For me, I'd firmly plant Rajon in the top 10-15, easily. let's not forget that the man was 3rd team All NBA last season.

Give the man some credit - even if he does still have a few warts in his game.

I was being sarcastic, GreenFaith.  I'm 100% squarely in the camp of fans who think that Rondo is one of the top players in the game.  I'd say there's a good case for top ten, maybe even close to top five.

By the way, you forgot to slot Kevin Durant in after Lebron James on your list, but, yeah, after those two, I think one could at least make a case for Rondo against another other player in the league.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Jason Kidd/Magic Johnson/Jon Barry > Chalmers.

Seriously, look at Rondo's stats in the playoffs -

17.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 11.9 APG, 2.4 SPG, .696% FT shooting.

Those numbers are amazing, but the biggest thing is the free throw shooting. 70% in the playoffs!?

Chalmers should've said he's in the top 2 or 3, at least.

You're right - i certainly did leave KD off the list, inadvertantly..my bad.

It's hard to judge internet sarcasm at times - my bad, again. ;D

If Chalmers wants to be the NBA's top point guard by the time he retires though he's going to have to either leave the Miami Heat, to be a more central talent to his team, or he's going to have to help turn the Heat's "Big Three" into the "Big Four."

Maybe as a followup he could discuss what Brandon Bass needs to do if he wants to be the best pf in the league and what Jeff Green needs to do to be the best sf in the league. That advice would cement our future as contenders for years to come.
I was thinking that Chalmers needs some kind of magical sneakers to be a top PG.

Or perhaps hire Jeff Gilooly.

Rondo is far and away the best PG in the game and,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            barring injury, will be in the Hall of Fame.

I agree that he is the best PG in the game, but I think Rondo, Paul, and Rose are all on the same tier.

Hmmm....

Hate seeing guys with Point Guard Envy....

Or Point Guard Compensation.

They only hate on you like that when you're really good. Rondo is legit.
The Celtics aren't quitters. Why should you be? - blind homer

I'd value Chalmers' input about as much as I'd value Gabe Pruitt's 3 months after the 2007-2008 season.
