I agree that Jet is an upgrade on Ray. Huge fan of Ray myself, I have to admit he cannot create own shots/handle the ball/run pick and roll/defend as well as JET.

I like Ray overall and see the switch with Terry as a lateral move.  Ray had started to become more one dimensional certainly, but he also performs that one dimension better than any player in NBA history and it is an important dimension.  I see Ray for Terry as an even swap.

Danny gets plenty of kudos from me for adding Courtney Lee, Jeff Green, Jared Sullinger, and Chris Wilcox to a team that made the Conference Finals with limited flexibility, while of course bringing back Kevin Garnett and Brandon Bass.  The only losses were Stiemsma and Pietrus (forgettable) and Hollins (horrible).

Sounds like an A offseason to me.

Has to be an A. I give an Aplus.

Sign Terry who I believe is a better replacement for Ray. Agewise, rollwise, fitwise.
Sign Lee who could be our starting SG if bradley stays hurt or doesnt pan out.
Sign Jeff Green
Sign Wilcox
Resign Garnett and Bass
Draft a top 7 projected talent at 21 in the draft
Draft a Potential starting center
Sign Collins who started on a playoff team last year and can provide good minutes as an experience banging bigman.

We were very active and have added an incredible amount of depth to a team that may have beaten the Heat and made the finals if not for an overtime collapse.

But there are plenty of great 3pt shooters out there. Guys like Korver, Novak and many more. I'll concede Ray is better historically than them all, and he has a flare for the dramatic, but even if he shoots 45% vs. a 40% shooter, that's 5 more makes per hundred, which is like one every 3 games. How many wins that actually corresponds to I don't know.

And I don't believe his numbers in the crunch are as outstanding as it seems.

It's an A for me. We got bigger, younger, deeper, more athletic, more shooters, better defenders, and kept our three best players together. As close to a perfect offseason for Ainge as it gets, given the circumstances.

Maybe an A+.

Yeah, I'd surely give an A.

I'd probably rather have Birdman than Collins, but really just nit picking at that point.

Would like to be a bit bigger at the 4...also being picky.

I'd hold off on the A+ for those reasons, but agree this is the youngest and perhaps deepest, and likely most talented roster we've had.

Not being able to S&T Bass for an upgrade is a full letter grade knock in my books.

Otherwise, solid A+, so I'd give a B+.

A- in my opinion.  I'm worried about the depth at PF and C.  Who do you trust after Bass and Garnett?  Wilcox and Collins are both very limited players.  I like Sully and Melo, but I never want to rely on a rookie in the middle of a title race.  What they do this year is just gravy, in my opinion.

So yeah, A-.  I would have made it a B+, but I do recognize that there just wasn't much quality in the big man FA market this year.

Who would you have signed and traded Bass for? You must mean Josh Smith, I'm not so sure anyone else was close to feasible.

Definitely an A, but Allen > Terry > Lee > Pietrus. A virtual push at the SG.  Allen's a better offensive and defensive player than Terry.

Debatable and I'll leave it at that.

Maybe 5 years ago... Terrys a much better player today. Can play the 1 and 2 and create his own shot. Not to mention hes as clutch as they come. Rays down to one trick and I'm personally looking forward to us not wasting shot clocks anymore running him off screens to perform that one trick...

Celtics had a nice offseason, but points in the paint will make life VERY difficult come playoff time. KG has NEVER been particularly good / consistent w/ pts in the paint.

I guess Sullinger can try to get some but he's a bit shorter. I really agree that we needed 1 more inside guy with post skills and height.

I am not sure how they could get much less than an A.

They signed one 4 of arguably the top 20, and almost certainly top 30 free agents in KG, Bass, Green, and Terry.  Even Lee has a case for the top 30 as well.

They filled basically every hole they have.

And in the draft, they got a major slider in Sullinger.

On paper, I am not sure how the summer could have been much better, given what they had to work with.

Yeah, they could have gotten they guys they did sign cheaper, but that's about it if we weren't going to "blow it up".

i wanted them to get Perry Jones and Sully but i guess they didnt want to get two guys who have "injury" issues
