I think this is folly just like the peeps who thought Dwight wanted to come here.
If Dwight Howard didn't opt in to the final year of his contract and entered this summer's free agent class, I believe he'd be here in Boston right now instead of LA.
That opt-in really removed Boston from the equation though.
I think he'd be in NJ in all odds myself, though we'd have put out a full court press to get him. The question is though was this report accurate: Orlando told him he'd be traded to the Lakers that night on the plane if he didn't "opt-in".
Ugh either way opting in left me furious at him, stupid move.
Oh yeah, completely blanked on the Nets. Oops, So yeah, I'll retract my first statement.
I'd say it would have been a 50-50 between the Nets and Celtics if Dwight made it to free agency (with Orlando).I think NJ would have started out as Dwight's first choice but I really believe that Danny and Wyc could have put Boston in the running if they had a chance to sit down with him and sell him on the team.
Especially after the way Rondo and the rest of the team played in the playoffs.
