I think we may have had this convo before but its always fun and last night Gary Tanguay said that Aly Raisman deserved to be on Boston's Mount Rushmore.

Who do you think?  Im going to go with one player from each team

Bird
Pedro
Orr
Brady
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

If you're expanding Mt. Rushmore, you've gotta find a place for Larry and Red on there, though.

Same four and there isnt much for debate in my book.

Celtics might be the one where I thought for a second.

Se here's why I didnt go with Ted Williams.  Pedro was equally as dominant a pitcher as williams was a hitter but Pedro did win a championship.  Also, as Bill simmons has noted Pedro has had the Rocky 4 experience where rival crowds start chearing him on against their own team.

And I chose Bird over Russel because Russel really didnt want anything to do with Boston for a long time after his career was over, but thats just knitpicky i guess.

I also considered Belichick over brady

If we're going my lifetime ('80 to present), then its:

Ray Bourque
Roger Clemens
Larry Bird
Tom Brady

I'm really torn between Clemens & Pedro.

Pedro wasn't equally as dominant as Williams.  Pedro's peak might've been a bit higher (and that's certainly debateable) but Williams was dominant in a much longer window that Pedro and that's incorporating the seasons he missed fighting in two different wars.

This is Mount Rushmore, not the Hall of "Very Good".

You got my 4 with agreement that Bird is the 5th head.

True, but Pedro also went up against Steroid guys, (and has never shown up on a list himself) If he did what he did while clean against guys that were cheating that definitely puts him above williams in my mind.

Tanguay is easily the worst sports media member in Boston . The guy is a pompous idiot . Ali Raisman won 2 gold medals , wooooow 2 whole gold medals ? come on this is so freaking ridiculous.

Anyone think this has to do with Raisman having a documentary on Comcast? Tanguay is so pathetic. This statement really bothers me with all of the great athletes that have come through Boston over the years, he is just trying to build up the Raisman name so comcast can get more viewers whenever her doc airs.

Yeah, if you're talking Boston Olympians, then Jim Craig or Mike Eruzione needs to be on there.

tough call between Russell and Bird.  Russell won all those titles but wasn't as beloved in Boston as Bird.  (not that Bird was a slouch on the court by any means).

If we're limited to 4 heads, we probably have to split the difference and pick Red as the orchestrator of the franchise that outsmarted all the other GMs to get both those players in Boston.

Foxboro isn't even within a half hour of Boston, and they are the New England Pats....they can have their own New England Mount Rushmore with a random Whalers player, Geno Auriemma, Aly Raisman, and Charlie Weis.
