Plus Chicago is going to be counting on the likes of Jack, Thad Young, and Haywood to play a lot of minutes so Pierce, Wade, and Bosh aren't burned out.

Right. That's going to happen.

Please tell me why that's wrong.

Not saying it's wrong. I'm saying I think those guys getting more minutes hurts your team in regards to finishing ahead of Lucky. You're sacrificing talent for preservation. I agree that you do that with older players though.

Again this all about the regular season. When the playoffs start and we see the match ups things may change entirely.

I'm saying what specifically means that playing Jarret Jack at the SG spot 5 extra minutes per game will cost me games? Chandler Parsons?

Both pretty good players, who started 90% of the games they suited up for, and both played well enough in that role to hold that starting spot when healthy.

And allowing Pierce and Wade that extra 5 minutes of rest I believe will be the ultimate difference between games missed for nagging injuries, and games kept healthy. Injuries occur most during exhaustion, and typically worse.

So if I'm sitting Wade 5 extra minutes, but that 5 extra minutes mean a knee sprain that would've sidelined him 12 games only sits him for 5, am I really costing myself wins?

I think it's the right decision. But again I like his starters more overall and his bench more overall. Thus if you play them the same amount of time I give him the edge for the regular season.

I like his personnel and style more overall for the regular season too.

When was the last time Riley didn't have a Center? And don't say Bosh.

I think Lucky's got a good team. I think he's the number 2 seed in the conference, likely. He's got a ton of talent that doesn't really make its self known until you stare at his roster for a while and then realize, "Plus, they're gonna play with Chris Paul..."

But I think outside of CP3, my team has more talent playing at each position, and holds that advantage through the bench. I think Lucky's team is the second best in the division, and second best in the conference.

Is Lucky's strategy to run his starters into the ground?  Chris Paul averaged 36 minutes last year.  Nene averaged around 30.  33 each for Granger and Matthews.  Ilyasova averaged 28 minutes.

Aren't both of those teams going to be playing their benches a lot?

Yes and his is better. If IP played the starters more then it makes up for the differences in the benches. Since they're both pretty equal i like Lucky a little more b/c I also like his starters a little more.

I think after Jack and Young is goes downhill bad for IP and I am not a big Jack fan. Grievous Vasquez was the other pg for NO and Eric Gordon was out all year. Some games it seemed like Jack was their only non D-Leaguer and he has never really impressed me. Not a good shooter and typically it takes him as many shots to score the same amount of points.
He doesn't compliment Wade at all imo.

For Lucky. I like Hill's energy and Martin's aggressiveness. I'm a Ridnour and Budinger fan. too. Young is the best Bench player between the two teams, but after that I think Lucky has the next 4 out of 5.

We have vastly different views of these players, and I don't know how yours is supportable other than, "I'm just not a big ___ fan."

But whatever, you're one guy who isn't a fan of the squad. If anyone wants to learn more about any of my players, I'll be happy to show you some reading materials.

"I'm just not a big ___ fan."

That is definitely the slogan of the 2012 CBNBA Draft.  I've probably used it a few times myself (and on players not named "Monta Ellis", too!)

When Thad Young comes in for Philadelpha, his team scores 8.2 points per 100 possessions better than compared to when he is out.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the personnel that Young is playing with and replacing.

Most of Thad's minutes at PF were alongside Brand, although some came alongside Vucevic. The most successful lineup also featured Turner.

So, how much was due to Young, and how much due to (what I expect to be the case) defensive gains made by Turner and Brand over Lou Williams and Spencer Hawes?

When Ilyasova comes in for Milwaukee, his team score .08 points better than when he is off the court.

I think that Ilyasova's skill set is a lot sexier than Thad Young's, he's got those gaudy 3pt numbers. But the problem is that Ilyasova only did that for one half of an abridged season. There were five halfs of a season before that when his production was as inconsistent as you could ask.

I actually want Ersan in there more for his rebounding than his shooting (although he's been consistently in the 40s% for the past three years on jump shots from 16 to 23 feet out). Even if he's just window dressing on offense, the mere threat of his 3-point shooting alone should pay dividends in opening up the floor for Paul to operate. But he won't need to score much to make a net difference for us.

Just last season, why Ily was crazy-town-banana-pants from deep, Young still managed to make a bigger difference helping his team get wins than Ilyasova did.

Win Share metrics say otherwise. Ersan: 9.66, Thad: 5.98.

Outside of Lebron, the Heat are just an OK playoff team.

Likewise, I think IP's got a good squad. I also think he's the #2 seed in the divison and conference.  ;)

Dude. Not a fan of the squad only because I said it wasn't number one in the regular season? I said it was a playoff team and likely better then any of your division rivals in a 7 game series. I think that shows respect.

Come with the material like Roy did in the other thread. I feel I have backed up my opinions with evidence as to why I am not a huge fan of a player. Like Jack.

For the most part he's a bad shooter and he put up numbers on basically a D-League team where he was the main option. It's a totally different environment and he will have to play off ball all the time.

I'm not sleeping on a Dwyane Wade led team. I like the CP3 led team more for the regular season a little better.

I see my team is being ignored in the top team in this conference discussion.

It is as if everyone forgot how Rondo upped his game in the playoffs.

And Chicago, is Wade going to be healthy enough to lead a team in the playoffs?  He will no longer have Lebron to carry him.

Young actually spent a lot of his lineups with all 4 guys (not at the same time). I don't think its a valid dismissal.

Mins with Brand: 605
Mins with Hawes/Vucevic/Allen: 773

I don't wanna do the same thing with Williams, but Young spent time both with the starters and with the bench, which you would expect from a guy who played 28 mpg.

I can certainly see the appeal of Ilyasova playing big minutes for you, especially next to Nene. If you had Young, you'd want him playing big minutes next to a 5 who can space. If you had Ilyasova, you want an active and tough defender/post scorer.

Will he play at that level during the regular season? I feel as though he'll coast/lack interest at times.

I didn't mean to sound dismissive. My question was a legitimate one, I really did wonder how much could be ascribed to the other guys around Thad. Brand was, as others have discussed, the Sixers' best big man defender, so I naturally assumed that some of that success could be laid at Brand's feet, when I saw the lineups.

Strange, I didn't bother looking further down that page to view the actual on court/off court breakdowns.
