"I think I am going to play this one out. I want to see what it feels like to be a free agent for once in my life. I think I am going to play this one out. A lot can change in two years. My body (may not) be where I want it to be, I could retire, a lot of things could happen. It's not about the money at this point. I love the game. I made as much money as I possibly can. It's about winning a championship and if I feel like it's the right thing to do, maybe so (come back) but I really don't know the specifics on the KG deal or Jason Terry's deal. If i solidify my third year, maybe they opt out, so it's about keeping your options open."

Could be a good idea for all parties if KG retires after this year.

Pierce could seriously be traded after next season. Ainge will get something for him if he feels he is just going to walk after 2013-14.

I dont get these players. He wants to see what being a free agent feels like. Why?

It's a team option, not a player option.  The C's will decide whether to retain Pierce for the '13-14 season.  Pierce only becomes a FA if the team declines the option.

KG JET and pierce will be playing for a championship for at least the next 3 years in a celtics uniform.

I think Pierce just said what he always says, that basically if the team goes into a full rebuild, he is gone, if not, he would love to stay and battle for a title with KG, Jet, and Doc. It makes perfect sense to me. Why would he want to play with a bunch of rookies and a constantly petulant Rondo to fight for the 8th seed in his last year or two in the league?

I took as him saying, it's up to the organization if they choose to opt out then I wanna test the waters (not gonna happen... I think we will see them all stay for 3 seasons unless something major goes wrong)... if it's left to him I don't think he will leave unless we rebuild b4 these 3 seasons on KG's contract.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I think its up to Sully and Melo to develop and keep KG healthy and fresh, so he comes back for two or three years.

But honestly, Pierce is not likely to be playing at a level that merits 16-17 million come next season.

He might find himself a FA even if KG and Terry come back.

I can think of better ways to spend 17 mil in 13-14.

Pierce will be making $15m next year.  Guaranteed $5m.  $10m deducted from the roster doesn't bring us far enough under the cap to adequately replace him.

Unless Jeff Green is supposed to be his replacement.  I am not holding my breath on that.

Pierce is more likely to be traded(which won't happen unless KG retires).

hes not leaving the celtics unless Danny decides to trade him. He just wants to test FA water doesn't mean he's leaving.

He probably just want to see what offers he will get and then come back to the Celtics...
