SUMMARIZE THEM AGAIN!!! YOUR FIRST SUMMARY DOESN'T FIT WITH MY OPINION!! I think is what he's trying to say.
That's like torturing the data until they give up the answers you want to hear.  A not infrequently used tactic.

Hmm.  Any specifics, or is this just a global "You're a dumbarse" indictment.  I thought maybe I'd at least have a blind squirrel's chance at the occasional nut.

Back in the 80's The Celtics used to have an nonathletic 6'9" guy who couldn't run very fast and I think he had a 28" vertical leap and a bad back......can't remember his name....

Anyways, it's pretty clear everyone knows exactly how a players career will turn out which is why no one has ever drafted a player who didn't turn out just great.

This just seems like a really misinformed statement especially about his passing abilities.  I mean did you watch any OSU games or even any summer league games with sully?  He may have his limitations just like every player but he is absolutely known as a great passer.  He showed that a lot over and over in the SL.  It was one of the main points Doc mentioned when discussing him.

he was underwhelming in the summer league... terrible shooting percentages.  Struggled offensively.  Looked like a solid rebounder.

People pegged his ceiling as "poor man's Carlos Boozer"... seems like that might still be in play.

More like a non shooting , not as good passer
Poor mans Boris Diaw

Cant Jump, Athleticism is not that good.

He is not going to come close to being a star ever.

They said the same thing about Kevin Love...

right?? lol I love it. K-love was no better at this point. In fact, they were practically the same at this point. Showed promise of a 3 pt shooter, great rebounding, but "no athleticism = no star"

Sorry, but bball iq = better than athleticism (i.q Gerald Green). I swear ppl expect this guy to be the current Love after a few summer league games... sorry for his lack of 40 pt 20 reb performances in terrible guard played summer league games

K-love was nothing special at first. Sully has shown signs of a great future. He may not be a star, or he may be a superstar. Some of you ppl are ridiculous trying to predict his future off SL games. If anything, I thought he was very impressive all SL and did a lot of what Love did at this point

Oh and if not for the "back problems"... he and Love would have been picked around the same as well in the draft.

Alright well I think that sums it up... this blog amazes me sometimes no lie

From "The Preacher" -

"I'd rather have a smart player who knows how to play with a 31 inch vertical than one who doesn't, with a 40 inch vertical."

TP

Your whole post was excellent, but the above is both common sense and on point 100%.

He will be a very solid contributor for us and I could see him becoming an all star player for us some time down the road. or at worst an excellent rotation guy.

Couple things I like about him:

1. Big back side and he knows how to use it in the paint - that's why he's such a good rebounder - it's about positioning.

2. Combine that with his length and toughness - for me that will translate well to the NBA when dealing with the real bangers night in and night out.

3. He has a little bit of a nasty streak, which i also like. I was very interested in watching him match up with Leon Powe during the summer league because Powe is a true tough guy that doesn't like to give any ground. During this match up there were some real elbows to the chest thrown by both Powe and Sully and some real push and shove stuff going on.

Sully is not going to back down in the paint. In fact, he may be a bit of an instigator, something we desperately need. I think he and Collins will bring some real beef and real toughness to our inside game on both ends.

4. He just has a lot of skill on a lot of places on the court.

5. Lastly, with our vets and with Merlin the magician, AKA Rondo on the court, I'm always looking at new young players in terms of how I think they will be able to take advantage of the easy stuff they are going to get from KG, Pierce and Rondo. I think Sully is going to know where to be on the court and he'll be able to convert the bunnies that will come his way. Perhaps most importantly, his passing ability will fit in very nicely with the other skilled passers on this team.

It wouldn't suprise me to see he and KG develop some very fast chemistry, especially if Sully is a willing Bully on the court next to KG, kind of like Perk was.

I think the whole issue with him was his back.  He probably would have been a top 10 pick based on what he showed as a college player.  If his back holds up, we are going to feel very good about this pick.  I don't see how anyone would try to dispute that.

We got him at #21.  In the summer league, he looked not in shape yet (a nicer way than saying out of shape).  That will have to change both in terms of his performance and preserving his back (work the core baby).

I think if he stays properly conditioned, he will find lots of ways to help the team and become a fan favorite.

Forget about Kevin Love.  What if Sully is only as good as Udonis Haslem?  That's still a pretty [dang] good player for that point in the draft.

Oh no don't diss Sullinger like that
Boozer is the NBA's punch-line

You mean for this year? That would be pretty nice to have, but that is most certainly not his ceiling.

I like Marcus Smart

He should focus on lowering his body fat to 8%, improving his handles/ball security, and creating consistency in his jumpshot.

He has the mental and physical tools to be a star.
