he was underwhelming in the summer league... terrible shooting percentages.  Struggled offensively.  Looked like a solid rebounder.

People pegged his ceiling as "poor man's Carlos Boozer"... seems like that might still be in play.

More like a non shooting , not as good passer
Poor mans Boris Diaw

get over rays departure. youve been criticizing ainge's guys after he left.

gotta be realistic sometimes, sorry

Celtics Blog isnt the best place to hear the realistic opinion.

Everyone on the Celtics Summer League is always a starter in this league which is hilarious to me.

Some people are praying we get back Moore. Its hilarious to see the homerism.

I think he has definite limitations but so does every other player in the league and that includes guys like LeBron and PP.   The key is whether he will be able to play to his strengths and play around his weaknessess.

I think worse case scenario is that he could be rebounding specialist.   The kid has IQ and good hands and uses his body.   Even at that I am pretty happy but as we all know he has a lot more upside than all that.

Best case who knows.   While I don't think he is a first go ballet to the HOF talent he does have skills.

I agree that this board is very often delusional and unrealistic, but saying it's "laughable" that Sullinger doesn't have a chance to be a solid starter level talent is equally ridiculous.

Also, Ray Allen was definitely not born in 1934.

The issue won't be talent this year, but circumstance.

Right now Bass and Green are ahead of him on the PF depth chart.  While there is some talk of him being able to play some center, I'm not so sure he can play an undersized 5 next to undersized 4s like Bass and Green.

And if that's the case, it pretty much leaves him playing next to KG or Wilcox, which means he's really playing PF and competing with Green and Bass for minutes.

Now could he potentially beat Green and Bass out for minutes?  Yes.  And I hope at least with Bass he eventually does.  But after Bass signed a 3 year 20 million dollar extension, I don't think the Celtics will be too keen to exile him to the bench right away and essentially destroy his trade value.

So I think if Sullinger does beat out Bass, it's going to have to be a big time beat down that Doc can't ignore, not that he just marginally outplays him.

The silver lining is that with Bradley out, I wouldn't be shocked to see PP get 5-10 mpg at the 2 guard spot, freeing up Jeff Green to play almost exclusively at the 3 spot.  That should in turn free up substantial 4 minutes for Sullinger.

If he makes the best of it in the first month or two of the season, maybe Danny will look to move Bass at the deadline.

Sullinger will benefit from our improved offense, particularly on the second unit. We have other guys - Terry, Lee, Green - who can all score.

He will be able to concentrate on rebounding and defense, and just score on the occasional putback or open 15-footer.

If he does that, he can avoid shooting 35% from the field.

SUMMARIZE THEM AGAIN!!! YOUR FIRST SUMMARY DOESN'T FIT WITH MY OPINION!! I think is what he's trying to say.
That's like torturing the data until they give up the answers you want to hear.  A not infrequently used tactic.

Sorry, bro, him become even a solid starter, let alone a Milsap level player, has already been deemed to be "laughable". We've got ourselves a Terry Durod on our hands, haven't you heard the truth? Its all been explicated above...

We have a whole bunch of fortune tellers around here. Geez guys, he hasn't played a single minute in the NBA yet. How can you tell he is a future All Star or a future bench player? Anthony Davis might not ever even be an All Star. We are all taking off each others head about our own speculations. Come on, even if we go off Summer League preformance, Adam Morrison is a future MVP. It's fun to speculate but no need to kill each other about it.

Considering he hasn't played a single NBA game with us, I'm going to hold off on judgement. He has all the tools to be a solid player. If athleticism is something that you feel is the only way to become a star, then you probably don't watch much basketball. Many of the stars in this league rely on fundamentals and mental toughness and prowess to prolong their respective careers. Sullinger has the intelligence and understanding to use his strengths to mask his weaknesses. I'll be waiting for this first real game with actual playing time.
