That was an easy call, we knew this was happening since they signed Ray.

Stern may be a Knicks fan, he probably hates the Celtics, but he keeps his love for the Benjamins. Ratings and fueling the rivalry storyline. A no brainer.

By the way, we should love that. It's a meaningless game in october, and our team won't be at 100% due to Avery's absence and integrating the new guys. So it'd be sweet to not only beat them, but to show them this ain't the banged Celtics from the playoffs, but a hungrier, younger, deeper team.

I'm calling it: Jason Terry will make 8 of 10 from 3-point land, LeBroid and Karate Hamster will combine for 35 free throws, and Jason Collins will give the Hamster an old-style hard foul to make him hit the deck. Flagrant 2 for Collins, and constant crying by the cHeat, but Celtics win 109-97.

Let's Go Celtics!!!

I totally understand WHY the league is doing it—money, ratings, blahblahblah—and no, I wouldn't want opening night to be against a team such as Toronto, but really, to me this is Stern rubbing the ECF loss—and Miami's title—in our faces.

In my opinion, Stern dislikes the Celtics, at least in part because they don't have one of the league's DDs (Designated Darlings), and this is just the latest manifestation.

ANNOUNCER: Getting to watch the Heat get their rings while the almost-miracle-producing Celtics look on?

STERN: Priceless.

LeBron was there when we got our rings in 08 - was that rubbing it in LeBron's face?  We beat him in 7 to get there, and the Cavs were even the defending conference champs at the time.  Does that mean David Stern hated LeBron?

This really doesn't make a lot of sense to me.  It seems like you pretty much have to start with the assumption that David Stern wakes up every day thinking of how to screw the Celtics (who have made him and the league a ton of money over the years) to see this as some kind of attack on us.

Don't mind me. I'm just bitter that LeBron got most of the calls—and the Celtics Big 4 usually didn't get many—even before LeBron won a ring. Yes, the Cs have made Stern and the league a ton of money over the years, but I think that's the ONLY reason he gives the Celtics any play—outside of the benjamins, I feel as though he has virtually no respect for the NBA's all-time-best franchise.

As far as LeBron being there when Boston got its rings: touche.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'
