Celtics will finish 4th for playoff seeding and will face the Knicks in the first round next year, squeeking by them in 7 games which will match us up against the Heat in the semis.  As constructed how do you see us doing minus any major injuries to either team?????

Playoff seedings

1. Heat
2. Indy
3. Bulls
4. Celtics
5. Knicks
6. Nets
7. Cavs
8. Milwaukee

lets watch some games first, see who breaks out, and see how the rosters play themselves out. It is way too early to determine stuff like this.

Agreed.

Way too early to make these assumptions.

After all, we were 15-17 up to the All-Star break last season, and we all know how that ended up.

As we're currently constructed, I think we're the team to beat in the East. Of course, if LeBron James goes supernova, then it becomes a bit more competitive.

And of course, I'm assuming that our player's actually have good chemistry, but I really love how our current roster is looking and developing.

Didn't seem to garner much interest, but this was my take on it a few days ago... I agree it is too early to make assumptions, just fired up after our offseason in part, I guess.

Yeah, us losing to the heat for the second year in a row.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The Heat are the best team in basketball until someone beats them in a 7 game series in the playoffs. That's what winning means.

But I am really getting excited about the Celtics chances of doing just that.

without avery, green, wilcox, JO, and pierce/ray/stiemsma playing injured.

excuses? no but we had almost no depth and we took them to 7. its not the same as "losing to the heat."

Chris bosh missed half the series and wade was on a bum knee. Doesn't matter how we lost the point is we lost, again.

C'mon now, lol...according to many of us here, and ESPN - MIA was supposed to slaughter us.

Stephen A Smith seemed to think so.

I guess nobody told BOS that.

After last year, I'm thinking the LAST team MIA wants to face in the playoffs next year is - Boston (with AB, Wilcox, Jared, Jeff Green, etc).

BOS will come back with more ammo for MIA next time.

I think that Ray Allen, sadly, will be on the rcvng end of an upset.

I know it's early but I think we as fan can see what talent we have.  It's not like we're going to add a big name and I think the Heat are done too.  So with our teams pretty much set, I still say we can't beat them.  It's going to suck to lose to them 3 years in a row is my point.

We're about championships I thought! The only reason why I started this thread is to point out I do not think we can beat the Heat.  If we can't beat them then obviously we are not winning #18.  I wanted to see what other fans thought.  Getting to the playoffs, winning the division and making it to the semis or ECF isn't what we want.  So if we do not have a team that I don't think can beat the Heat and many others agree then shouldn't we try something else?

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
Like many here said, Miami doesn't want to see us.  Not this year, or last year.  Ever since 2010, most teams and players (especially LBJ) know to not count us out in the playoffs.

at most, we're the 3rd best team in the East.  The only real competition for the Heat is a healthy Bulls team.

In the West it's Thunder, Lakers and maybe Spurs.

Major sleepers in either conference seem to be Clippers and maybe the Nets.  On paper, the Nets look surprisingly good.

Yeah, but after witnessing BOS's run post-All Star break last season, we all know we can't make assumptions with THIS group, lol.

While I don't think we will start out slow like that again (thanks to a full training camp and rest in between games), I'm sure we will still have some valleys during the season.

But BOS will end up with another long season next year. Until MIA's beaten us three times in a row I'm not conceding anything to them.
