Without Bradley:
Rondo (36) / Terry (12)
Lee (30) / Terry (18)

With Bradley:
Rondo (34) / Terry (14)
Bradley (30) / Lee (14) / Terry (4)

Playoffs:
Rondo (40) / Terry (8)
Bradley (30) / Lee (10) / Terry (8)

With Bradley back the numbers just don't add up.

Rondo should be playing 34-36 a night.
Bradley should be playing at least 30 a night.
Terry should be seeing about 20 a night
Lee should be seeing about 20 a night.

In the playoffs neither Jet or Lee are going to want to see anything less than 15 minutes, but Rondo should be playing near 40 and Bradley should be seeing 30 still.  So what's the plan?

I'd say AB would ease his way back with 20-25 possibly off the bench If Doc wants to make that slow transition. I feel Lee deserves more minutes even when AB is back. Maybe -2/3 for AB and + 2/3 for Lee.

Just can't see 4-5 mil being used for 14 minutes. Even JO gave us 20+ for awhile at that pay. And Lee as a 5th year player whos shown consistent good skill deserves more. Just my opinion. I'm pumped for our back court
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

more money doesnt mean more minutes. avery bradley gets paid less than lee only because avery is still on his rookie contract. it only means he was still unproven when he signed the dotted line. avery plays at an elite level and outplays his contract significantly.

More money doesn't mean more minutes, but the Celtics wouldn't have given Terry and Lee the money they did if they expected them to be small time players.

Here's the reality:

Lee will see minutes at the 3, which will force Green to see even more minutes at the 4.

I'd say this is probably what we'll see regular season.

PG: Rondo 35/Terry 13
SG: Bradley 28/Lee 12/Terry 8
SF: Pierce 28/Green 10/Lee 10

And then Green gets another 15-20 minutes at the 4 spot.

And on another note, Lee and Terry both averaged better than 30 mpg last year.

When/If everyone is healthy, Lee will play some at the 3, Jeff Green and Paul Pierce some at the 4.

It is foolish to try to predict minutes over a long 82 game season. For the playoffs, it will boil down to matchups and health.

The best problem to have is not enough minutes for worthy players.

I don't think salary will determine playing time. The Celtics had a ton of cap space and were able to sign guys to decent contracts. Doesn't mean they automatically get x minutes.

Same with Bass, who might find himself as the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd big off the bench.

These guys all seem like high quality guys, so getting paid well to play on a championship level team should be good enough for them, regardless of PT.

Can Lee play ANY small forward?  Might we see a little smallball out there, with Lee at the SF, Pierce or Green at the PF, and KG in the middle?  He's got the best size of the three SGs.  Wouldn't surprise me to see a three-guard lineup at least on occasion.

I see no problems whatsoever with a minutes breakdown that looks like this:
Rondo [35] + Jet [13]
Bradley [24] + Lee [14] + Jet [10]
Pierce [30] + Green [12] + Lee [6]
Bass [25] + Green [10] + KG [5] + Sully [8]
KG [25] + Wilcox [15] + Collins [5] + Sully [3]
AB-24 mpg, Jet-23 mpg, Lee-20 mpg
Those 3 guys' minutes will vary significantly based on match-ups.

When/If everyone is healthy, Lee will play some at the 3, Jeff Green and Paul Pierce some at the 4.

Of course it's foolish, but I'm going to do it anyways because I have no life.  But yeah, having too many great players on one team is an issue we haven't had for so long I think people have forgotten that it's not something to be worried about.

The thing is that we are preparing for injuries with tremendous depth. Guys are going to need to play and play hard and not pace themselves. We are going to run. Rondo will have lineups around him like: Lee, Green, Wilcox and Bass. Bradley, Lee, Green, and Bass.  Terry, Lee, Green and KG. Its going to happen. A lot of this is about providing enough depth and to surround Rajon with runners and try to get a great playoff seeding. When the playoffs come we will be more classic but even then Id expect a lot of small ball. Miamis biggest best lineup will be Bosh, Haslem, Lebron, Judas/Rashard, Wade. We probably match that any number of ways but something like KG, Bass, Green/PP, Lee, Rondo frequently. If they use Miller or Rashard at times instead of Haslem we can go quicker and not be in trouble

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
In my mind, Rondo's minutes are all but guaranteed. The problem will be balancing minutes between Terry, Lee, and Bradley. It could be tough for Doc to convince the guys to take significantly less minutes than they're accustomed to. Terry has never played less than 23 minutes in his career, Lee hasn't played less than 20. Someone's going to have to be a good soldier and take the hit.

My best attempt at balancing things out

PG: Rondo(35) Terry(13)
SG: Bradley(25) Lee(16) Terry(7)

I don't think that keeps everyone happy though.

I think Jason Terry's offense (shot creation, explosive scoring, playmaking) is too important to this team's success to only be a 20 minute a night player.

Terry needs to be up in that 28-32 minute range.

Guys, the thing we're forgetting here is REST!!!

Rest KG, Pierce, and Terry when we play the Bobcats or Raptors. Split up the guard minutes between Rondo, Lee, and Bradley. Start Green at the SF and give Sully more minutes to make up for KG.

It keeps the old guys rested and the young guys happy.

Im worried about the guard minutes when Bradley comes back.... Jet needs 30 minutes a game and should get it. Rondo will be up around 35 to 40. that leaves what... a combined 26 minutes between Lee and Bradley?

Paul should not be playing 30+ minutes all season.  I would like to see Doc actually rest KG, Paul and Terry as much as possible maybe play them 20 mpg during the season and give them games off against lesser opponents.  With the depth of this team we could easily play around with different lineups when we give them the night off.
