Let me just say that I love Mickael Pietrus. I really loved his defense here, 3-pt shooting, charisma, but most of all his embrace of being a Celtic. We have to be realistic though. He's not going to take less money to take a lesser role here. He's too talented for that. Lee and Green are younger and are both going to get atleast 20 minutes a game. That doesn't leave much for Pietrus. Right now, Mickael is still in his prime at 30 and is more likely to get richer offers than the Celtics can give him. I know about how he's publicly let Boston know how much he loves it here and wants to stay, but there's no room for him to get serious minutes.

Do I want the guy back? Of course I do, but Peaches is worth more than being the failsafe in case of injuries. I'd say Marquis is a much more plausible option. He doesn't bring Peaches' shooting but he's a capable defender and held his ground against Wade and Lebron in the ECF. Feel free to disagree, but I just don't think Peaches is going to return.

Agreed. MP not coming back here once the Lee thing goes through. Which is understandable, but sad, because I really like him.

We could still use him in a sign/trade for a big (maybe send him back to Phoenix for Robin Lopez)

I'll miss him too, but it'll be hard enough finding minutes for Lee, Green, and Terry at the 2/3 spots let alone Pietrus.

Two other quick thoughts:

1) The nice thing is that now we can definitely use the BAE on a center.  Not sure what we'll net there.

2) With Pietrus likely out of the picture and Moore now gone, I'd strongly consider bringing back Daniels or Pavlovic (in that order).  Neither figure to be part of the rotation, but could prove valuable as an extra defender in a playoff series against Miami, LA, NY, or another team with good wings where our wings will likely get in foul trouble.

On a Conference that has Lebron, Dwyane, and Carmelo; Pietrus is useful piece. I would try to bring him back just in case of an injury.

I hope Pietrus is still a possibility.  I love the acquisition of Lee, if it goes through but he's better off guarding 2 guards and points at his size. It'd be nice to get another big wing defender.  I suppose they think Green could fill that role but he has little experience guarding SFs and he didn't look good doing it when he came to the Celtics.

Pietrus would be good but would not mind giving Christmas some run. Question would be if Pietrus would be ready to play while Bradley in rehabbing the shoulders.

TP. If no bigs are available at the BAE, should consider using it this season for that reason, methinks.

Ive said this 30x: we still need him!!!!He has to play behind Lee, Bradley, and PP, Green but I bet one or 2 of those guys lose time and Michael needs to be there to have a quality back up.

If we have Lee but lose MP its not a big upgrade....we have lost 1-2 titlee from lack of depth, guys.

what bigs are there to give the BAE to though? Blanche, Darko? I wouldn't give them anything more than vet min

As if you wouldn't give the BAE to Blatche!!

When he us in shape and motivated he's easilly a starting calibre player for any team.  He's a good rebounded and can score inside and from midrange, plus he's you and (by Celtics big standards) athletic.

He might have a bum attitude and work ethic, but so did Glen Davis and he was productive for us for years.  At worst he is a lazy big man who can still give you size, rebounds and scoring.  At best the Boston tradition gets to him and we have a starting big man to take over for KG in 2 years.

Given his talent level, he is DEFINATELY worth the risk at at that price.  With the uncertain health and conditioning of Wilcox we need all the size we can get...and BAE is barely more than the vet min anyway.

You can't never have too many shooters/defenders. Either for his non-bird raise (1.6M) or BAE (1.9M) Pietrus would be a great addition. If he commands more money, then the Celtics can't do anything.

In the playoffs you'll always have a 12th man spot for a tough defender like him. Lee and Bradley are good at that, but against bigger 2/3s you'll need someone who can help Green. The Captain needs to focus on offense, you can't ask him to guard LeBron for the whole game.

I want Pietrus, Blatche(vet min only) and Dooling in case Christmas ain't worth a guaranteed deal.
