The NYK select MONTA ELLIS

Bad fit, imo. He is probably the best SG available, though.

This team has firepower, if there are enough balls to go through.

Monta avg. 20ppg and 6APG that aint bad for someone who everyone thinks is a chucker.

No one is doubting his scoring ability. Melo/Cousins/Ellis just doesn't mesh well with each other.

Trying to catch up on today's action. Has anyone other than Derrick Rose been selected? Does anyone know what pick we are currently on?

Rose
Lopez

Third pick is up.

Yes?

Thanks. TP to you and BigAl.

There is no way that Andrew Bynum can effectively defend Chris Bosh. Bosh is far too quick for him and has a lethal + hugely efficient face up game. Terrific first step and is a foul drawing machine in matchups like this.

Bosh will pull Bynum out of the paint and put in difficult defensive situations all game long. Both from a man-to-man standpoint and in providing effective rim protection (which likely opens up their entire defense). Bosh can collapse their defense.

Sure, Bosh will have some problems with Bynum's size and power game in the post ... but, simply put, a Chris Bosh led team (with Bosh defending Bynum + a quality team defense) will be able to defend Bynum better than Bynum (and his team defense) can defend Bosh.

Plus, Bosh can play 20-25% more minutes than Duncan can.

Wizards select: Derrick Rose

I am shocked Rose lasted this long. I expected him to go in the first round regardless of his injury. Some team that was building for 12 months from now (or a Team of the Future) rather than this season.

Excellent guy to put alongside Pau Gasol. They'd be a fun duo to watch.

The latest prognosis has him coming back in March to play the rest of the regular season and be in shape for the playoffs. But things change very quickly.  Wes Welker tore both the anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in his left knee on the last game of the season back in 09/10 and was the first game the very next season only 7 or 8 months later. Rose is young and will bounce back quickly. Plus, I think there's enough PG depth in the league now to afford to use 3.1 on Rose waiting in wings.

Just as he could return early, he could return late, or not at all.

If Bosh is boxing out Bynum, (or attempting to) Bynum  will get every rebound. Also you can expect Bynum to get deep deep post position on Bosh the entire game.

Ty Lawson, welcome to Philly!
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I agree with this.

I find the latter rather unlikely based on the return time of athletes experiencing this injury in the last 5 to 7 years.

Bynum will get deep position. Bynum will score a lot.

Bosh and his team will score more.

Ty Lawson, welcome to Philly!

Lawson was a beast last year in the playoffs. This dude can score.

I'll be back on at some point today to make 3.24 but I might miss my time. Is that cool as it's the last pick of the draft today?

I'll likely make 3.24, 4.1 and 4.2 when I sign back on tonight.
