Ugh, looking at the draft board, roughly all the big-money bets I made didn't pan out. STAT, Bogut, Lowry, Derrick Williams wasn't ready, blarg. I had some mid and late round gems, but for teh more part, blarg.

Lowry was a beast until he got hurt.  He was a top 5 fantasy player for like a 3rd of the year
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Yeah I mean, my reasoning of my picks at the time with what I knew seemed pretty solid. Just circumstance and flat out poor judgement in Derrick Williams and Amare Stoudemire's case kind of submarined my team.

STAT looked so dominating in the block against the C's before he hurt his back, I really though this season was going to be a bit of an opus for him.

As K-Cat would say,

Bynum is still just a tease.  Comes up small (and moronic) in LA elimination games.

Well, if that were the case we'd also have to recognize Carlos Boozer who had as many turnovers (3) as points (3) in Chicago's elimination game, shooting 1-11 while often looking like the sixth best player on the court. He almost made this list just for his post-game interview:

Quote
"We had the best record again in basketball, won our division again, had the top seed again, that's all that matters, yo.”

Did somebody say, "WRONNNGGG!!!"?

Round 2

Round 2 was treacherous in 2011. As in Round 1, serious injuries derailed numerous players and thus CB teams. Just go down the list, Andrew Bogut, Brook Lopez, Kevin Martin, Steph Curry, Eric Gordon, Andrea Bargnani… That said I didn't hate a single pick and so had a difficult time assembling the dis-honorees.

Worst Pick: Evantime34 - John Wall (12/35). The average NBA player sees his greatest improvement between his rookie and sophomore seasons. Wall was treading water, posting nearly identical numbers. The good? He was one of just 15 players to start all 66 games. He gets to the line at a high rate and somehow managed to finish 7th in the league in assists (8.0) despite a dearth of shooters on the Wizards. But Wall may have been the worst shooter of them all. Though it doesn't make the headlines as often, the kid is an even worse shooting PG than Rondo, hitting 7.1% of his three pointers (That's right.) and just 28.5% of his jumpers in total. This while leading the NBA in turnovers and struggling on defense.

Dishonorable Mentions: Riah32 - Luis Scola (24/48 ). You can't knock Scola's toughness. Like Wall, Luis was one of just 15 players to start all 66 games. But he saw his FG% and rebound rate (down to a poor 12%) drop again, posting career lows in both for the second straight season. And it's too soon, for the 32-year-old to have fallen off defensively.

But maybe I should've chosen wdleehi - Danny Granger (9/33). Nobody who shot as much (15.2 FGA) shot as badly (41.6 FG%). On the other hand he played some of the best defense of his career. I could've chosen Gainesville Celtic - Tyreke Evans (15/39). Hard to fault 16.5/4.6/4.5 with 1+ steal. But two years out, Evans has yet to improve on his rookie year, and saw his assists, FTA, rebounds, PER and usage rate dip again, yo.

He also help lead his team to the third seed.

He also help lead his team to the third seed.

Or they lead him.

David West hustling back on defense, yelling at Granger, "Danny, did you shoot that with your eyes closed? @!#?@! man!"

But like I said, I wasn't really mad at any of the picks in Round 2. Not David West mad. Not Q*bert mad.

I thought i stole Kevin Martin with the 29th pick - coming off 23ppg/44%/38% shooting season.  Man does that seem like a lifetime ago.  Arguably the worst pick of the round.

Last year was probably the worst cb team I've ever had I promise a better output this year.

Flipping the Round 2 Dishonorable Mention for the Round 1 Dishonorable Mention? Okay, yes.

Dishonorable Mention: Edgar - Deron Williams (9). Stern's gauntlet of an NBA schedule wreaked havoc on NBA and CB franchises alike, Rose, Randolph, Ginobili, and Horford missed long stretches, but I'm not inclined to single out managers for difficult to foresee injuries. I was tempted to call out Howard for undermining his coach and GM while alienating his teammates, only to opt in to the final year of his contract. But Dwight didn't phone it in out on the court. Williams did though, and mostly saw his team take the flack. D-Will was sloppy on offense, posting career lows in assists, turnovers and efficiency, and disinterested on defense. Two fun facts, Deron is shooting just 39.8% since joining the Nets and THE Walker Wiggle now has a third of a share of two season tickets to the team's inaugural season in Brooklyn. Wait, what?

Round 3

Best Pick: Evantime34 – James Harden (13/61). Harden put the league on notice, banging on all comers over the stretched out summer, then followed through on that threat, raising his number across the board, winning a Sixth Man of the Year award as the best shooting guard in the NBA, and reaching the Finals (where, okay, he shrank under the bright lights, and was soundly out-played by Dwyane Wade). Still, kid finished the regular season with 16.8 points, 5.0 FTM, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in just 31 minutes per, the 2nd highest TS% in the league (66.0%) and 6th most Win Shares.

Honorable Mention: StartOrien - Tony Parker (2/50). Four time All-Star Parker quieted critics and put the emphasis back on his play this season, running a masterful Spurs offense, leading the team in scoring (18.3 points on 48% shooting) and assists (a high water mark 7.7, good for 8th in the NBA), while posting a career best 80 FT% on almost 5 attempts per game.

Worst Pick: Who – Lamar Odom (7/55). The worst pick of the third round may also be the worst pick of the draft that didn’t involve a season ending injury. A distracted, out of shape, Odom posted a career worst 6.6 points on 35.2% shooting, 3.4 rebounds, a 9.2 PER (A full 10 point drop from the 10-11 season.) and -0.9 OWS, before he was mercifully moved to the inactive list after 50 games. The worst follow up to a Sixth Man of the Year award in NBA history.

Dishonorable Mention: Champkind - Stephen Jackson (23/71). Captain Jack salvaged his reputation if not his season with a semi-productive return to the Spurs, but he still finished the year shooting a career worst 37.4%, including almost four three point attempts a game at just 28.8%. A 15+ pppg scorer the bulk of his career, Jackson managed just 9.8 points per, and when he wasn’t forcing shots he was coughing up the ball (a career worst 17.3 TO%).
