i am not so sure on pietrus taking whatever to come back. i think it will be a huge stretch to get him if they offer the BAE

So far as I've heard, there has not been one single rumor of Pietrus being given an offer from another team at all.  Teams are not going to give him the MLE.

What does that leave?  Teams with cap space?  Those options are running fewer and fewer by the day.  All that will be left is BAE-type offers.  Why would Pietrus take such an offer from another team?  He's said multiple times he would LOVE to remain a Celtic.

Agreed. He was making 5.3M in Phoenix. BAE is a lot less than that.

Does anyone have updates on Celtics acquisitions and trades? I'm hearing about other teams making moves, but the Celtics. In regards to the Celtics, it's been Wilcox and Bass. What's the news on Terry, Green, Lee, Dooling or Pietrus?

Quote
The Celtics roster is almost complete.  The Jason Terry and Jeff Green deals are being finalized soon enough, meaning our roster looks like this right now:

Guards:  Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Jason Terry
Wings:  Paul Pierce, Jeff Green
Bigs:   Kevin Garnett, Brandon Bass, Jared Sullinger, JaJuan Johnson, Fab Melo, Chris Wilcox

Non-Guaranteed:  E’Twaun Moore, Sean Williams, Kris Joseph

That’s 11 guaranteed guys under contract.  If they guarantee Moore and Joseph, that’ll be 13.  Moore has been decent in summer league and Joseph has been a pleasant surprise, so it wouldn’t be a shock for Boston to do that.  And if they do, that leaves preciously little money and roster space for more moves.  And that means Greg Stiemsma is probably gone… and the Timberwolves know it won’t take much.

I'm always optimistic on here, but I don't like the way this roster is shaping out? This roster doesn't show me a team that's getting past the first or second round. As of now I see no back-up PG. Kind of thin at the wing and big man depth. If Anige is serious about making another run, shouldn't he fill the remaining spots with vets? ???

Nor have I heard of any other interest in Peaches. After being injured and struggling to shoot well in the playoffs, I can't imagine him getting MLE-type money, which leaves, at best, mini-MLE-type money, which isn't a whole lot more than the BAE.

Maybe we'll see Moore as backup PG behind Terry, with the way he's been playing in SL.

Well, considering how we got past ATL and PHI and took MIA to 7 games - all without AB, Wilcox, or Jeff Green - I think we've had a GREAT offseason.

To me, this roster AB, Wilcox, Jeff Green AND Jet) - right now?

I can see us getting past MIA or CHI.

We need SG depth, but I believe we'll be fine. Danny is still working that out. But going into this season, with what we have RIGHT NOW?

And this is not even counting the fact that I believe Sully will contribute next season.

BOS will contend next season. Don't worry.

Why wouldn't this team have a realistic shot at making it past the 1st or 2nd round?

The core is pretty much the same as the one we just went to game 7 of the conf finals with.  We replacedupgraded Allen with Terry, added Green, added Sullinger and replaced Stiemsma with Melo and Wilcox (a wash in my mind).  Pietrus may be back, he may not.  I'm sure we'll be able to get someone who is just as capable of contributing what he did last year.

Oh, I agree with your statement. I would like for, Ainge to acquire some more depth at wing and center spots. Possibly some guys at the vet minimum if that's possible at this point. I'm just not sure, because I don't know what is going on with the Celts as far as moves. I haven't heard any news since last weekend, Saturday.

You will not hear this by some in the media or ESPN, but the east got a bit weaker. Some teams have downgraded their rosters. The Bulls are clearing cap space so they're gutting their entire bench. Guys like Watson, Krover, Brewer, Rip, Asik and Lucas are just about gone. The Hawks went from decent to mediocre. The Magic are in turmoil. Pacers didn't do much, but they lost Collison and Jones. The Heat got older, but you'll never hear that from the media. The Knicks got very old. The Nets made some nice moves. Sixers kind of downgraded their roster too. The Bucks are the Bucks. The Cavs suck. Raptors suck too.

It's seems like the Heat, Celtics, Pacers and Nets are the best teams so far heading into the 2012-13 season.

I'm glad to know no one else has made an offer. Bringing back Pietrus would be big. At the vet min we had him at, you're not going to find a more solid contributor.

The BAE looks to be 150% of his last year's salary. He wants to stay, he's getting a raise, and the BAE allows us to sign him to a 2 year contract. I'm obviously biased, but I think Pietrus is definitely worth the BAE at 2 years, and I have no qualms about losing the exception for next season. When healthy - no reason to believe he won't be this year - he has range, size, and solid D. His defense becomes huge factor in another ECF, and I'm not confident in Green's defense at the 3 (and don't really even consider it worthwhile to debate his defense at the 4) or Paul's health after another 82 game season.

I hope Ainge hasn't peeved him off by chasing other suitors to this point. Probably see him go to someone else with cap room offering him a multi-year at $4.

Wasn't last year's salary for MP partially covered by the Suns, since they waived him?

Sort of.  He was still paid by the Suns for last season, but then he signed a separate contract with the C's for the vet minimum, that wasn't paid by the Suns.

We signed him for the veteran's minimum, not his old Suns contract.
