I just read on real gm that Greg Oden wants to play in the 2012-2013. From a celtics fan perspective I would be pretty ecstatic if we signed him for the minimum or biannual because that is definitely the most upside you can get for that kind of money. If he were to recover from his injuries on a one year deal would we have bird rights?

From an outsider perspective I think this is a bad move by him. It sounds like he tried to rush back to soon from his previous injuries. His idea of sitting out a year seemed smarter and maybe would actually let him heal. If he signs on a one year deal how is he not going to feel rushed to prove his worth for a next contract? If he signs a multi year deal and does come back, he is locked in for low money even if he proves his worth.

I also think it's a bad move. He really needs to find a good trainer, and just work on getting strong and healthy again before coming back to the league.

That said, hard to fault anyone wanting to get back into the league.

Good for him. And I want Mutant Ninja Turtle superpowers. Both have about the same chance of happening.

I am pretty sure a team will pay him veterans minimum. If I understand correctly the league actually subsidizes veterans minimums contracts under the CBA so the team doesn't even pay the full minimum.

I'd give him a two year guaranteed deal if it was at the minimum.  Pay him to rehab this year, and come back at some capacity next season.

I pretty sure the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles didn't have superpowers, they were just mutants who knew martial arts.  ;D

Yeah, that would be ideal if he would take that kind of a deal.

If he is willing to take the minimum I think a lot of teams would have interest. A healthy Greg Oden is a sight.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yeah, he should allow 1 year minimum from his last surgery, which was in March or something if I recall correctly. Preferably, he should give it 18 months and be sure everything's as rock solid as can be for the 2013/2014 season. But it does make sense to be around a club (like Boston) and train / rehab within the team facilities, etc.

A 2 yr deal is ideal.

I saw Hollins do it a few times, of course he then fumbled it out of bounds each time....

Go to Phoenix - best medical staff in the NBA.

Use them to right your career and then leave them and go to a real team.
