The kid is very talented. He's got a very rounded style of play, much like PP, and I think there's a role for him on this team.

Thoughts?

I've only seen bits and pieces of him, but I liked what I saw.

Hope he sticks around.

I'll take him over Moore at this point.

Yep, since Allen is gone, AB is kinda short, Pierce is slowing down ,

Joseph at 6' 7" SF-SG  fills a need for a young sturdy fast slasher , get your own shot , go to man during last 10 sec. Like Paul P. , he is active on the boards for his size,  and Joseph can knockdown his freethrows pretty good too .

Joseph would come in handy playing teams like Philly , NY ,NY Nets, & Indy.

His skills are a unqiue set for the Celtics. We really have nobody but old Paul Pierce who played like this.

I wanted Jeff Taylor in the draft. (Happy about Sullinger/Melo though).

Kris Joseph is very similar to Taylor athletically and physically. Taylor may be a little stronger, but Joseph's wingspan is about 5" longer than Taylor's.

Both are 6'7 and within a pound or two of each other. Both are slashers and have good motors. Taylor is a slightly better 3 shooter and Joseph's midrange is slightly better.

While Taylor is an established defender, Joseph has the physical tools to be an excellent defender.

I think that we were lucky to get Joseph. Hope he sticks.

with our top guards locked in, probably gotta choose 3 out of these 5:

Moore
Peitris
Daniels
Joseph
Dooling

if we keep 4 then we'll only have 2 true Centers in Fab & Steamer.

Top 7:
RR, AB, PP, KG, Bass, Green, Terry

Backup Bigs:
Sully, Melo, Steamer, JJJ

personally, I'd rather see more bigs down there...

I'm guessing we keep Pietrus, Joseph, Dooling and Moore, and work out a trade to send Dooling and Moore to Houston for Lee.

Like to have Wilcox too.

If we only could keep two of those guards, I'd want to keep Joseph and Pietrus because of their versatility. They both can play the 2 and the 3

Can we still carry 15? If so, Moore and Dooling would be my choices along with Joseph and Peaches.

I'd be fine with saying bye to Dooling (Terry can play pt if need be), Quis (although he played very nice d in the playoffs), Stiems (for Wilcox), and 3J (if used to get Lee or Mayo).
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Joseph is surely a smart players who knows how to play the game, has good size, and seems to be pretty good at everything.

However, let's keep things in perspective.

First and foremost, this has been four summer league games.  The likes of Joe Forte, Kedrick Brown, J.R. Giddens, and Jeromoe Moiso all had their share of summer league success.  It doesn't mean it translates to the NBA game.

Second, even if Joseph is an exception, the question I have is whether his skill set translates into being a role player on a team with a lot of deep talent.  While he may have similar agility and body control to Pierce, as a role player lucky to see 5 minutes of action, he'll likely never have a play called for him where he can show it off.

The more important question will be whether he can do something like lock down other perimeter defenders, make the smart pass, and most importantly, knock down the open weakside jump shot.

Maybe he can do it.  But I wouldn't bank on summer league success always translating into NBA success, particularly when most of these summer league guys are going to be asked to NOT be the man during the regular season.

I think Joseph and Pietrus makes Marquis (and Pavlovic) expendable.

I'm coming around to the thought of using Dooling, JJJ, and Moore to get Lee.

The remaining roster spots should go to backup bigs. Bring back Stiemsma, or use him to acquire another backup big in a S&T.

I'm only wed to bringing Joseph in from among that group.  I'm hoping Lee or Mayo comes in via trade and then would only really take Moore over Dooling because he's ever so cheap and could be teased into a minor asset over time.

I think there is a strong chances this happens.  Of all the players under contract, I think that Moore and JJJ are the ones on the bubble.  Moore's inability to play point may hurt him against a guy like Dooling.  JJJ's size and lack of inside game, puts him behind guys like Sullinger, Green and Wilcox.

They may turn out to be good players down the road, but they are replaceable and don't really serve a role on this team.  I hope DA is looking to use them to try to bring in a guy like Lee.

I have fully expected Kris Joseph to be on the 2012-2013 Celtics roster since before summer league.  It's rare that mid second rounders don't make the team that drafted them in their rookie year, particularly if that team is looking to fill out the back end of the roster on the cheap.

Whether or not he gets playing time is a different story, but I'll be shocked if Joseph isn't on the roster for the start of the regular season.  He certainly won't be replaced by D-League free agents like Christmas, Joseph, or (one of my old favorites) Stephan Lasme.
