Drive straight through the night alone from Chicago to Boston (16.5 hrs) without stopping to rest or sleep.
That sounds brutal, I have done Outerbanks to Boston in one day but that was split with my Gf. Roughly 80% me driving 20% but still brutal
One of the dumbest things I've ever done.
Just wanted to get home for my first Thanksgiving after moving out here plus I was getting rid of my car and had to do the drive.
Ah, horror stories on the road ... played a gig once at King Henry's in Caribou, ME, finished playing at 1AM, packed up a van and a trailer, left Caribou around 3AM
in a snow storm with four other musicians crammed into the front of the van, (towing the trailer, heater was broken), and drove non-stop, (except the obvious reason), to Miami.
I actually drove all but the last six hours as I have a trust issue with others driving, (especially in bad weather), but had to relinquish the wheel when I kept slamming the brakes on for deer in the road that weren't actually there. (This is not remotely the worst band experience I've had ... sometime I'll share the Guam story and Thule, Greenland).
I'm sure other musicians here can relate. Yeah, it
is just like Blues Brothers and Spinal Tap at times ... and worse.
