Comparing Illyasova and Jeff Green is silly.

True.

Jeff Green was misused at OKC at PF. His natural position is SF which he could potentially dominate among other SFs. At 6'9" with good range, quickness and very good rebounding skills, I doubt if PP could even get through his defense at this point of their careers. His minutes at PF in OKC will help him a lot in potentially cementing an outstanding reputation in rebounding and defending against SFs and tall SGs. He helped us a lot in limiting Melo against the Knicks in 2011 playoffs. PP was almost helpless chasing and stopping the scoring barrage Melo was doing against us back then. But Melo backed down when faced with JG.

Ilyasova is PF. If he meets us, it will either be KG or 3J who will be against with. I highly doubt if he gets his usual numbers against the 2.

The bottom line is that Ilyasova had a much better year than Jeff Green has ever had in his career, and just got signed for a better price. The only legitimate argument you could make against Ilyasova being the better deal was that

Just as a quick side note: the "prices" are easy to compare (contract value/number years), but "deal" or "value" is much much harder to compare. At a minimum, you'd want to know something about the actual contracts. e.g: if Ilyasova's was fully guaranteed, but Green's was only guaranteed for two years, then which is the better "deal"?
