Ray Allen was my favorite player. Not just on the Celtics, but out of everyone in the entire NBA. If you had asked me as recently as a week ago why this was, I'd give you some combination of "hard worker", "professional", "gentleman" etc as my reasons for feeling so. I say this first to establish my credentials as a fan of his.
After spitting in the face of the Celtics organization, and flipping the double bird to the Boston fanbase, Ray Allen is now dead to me. I have his jersey in my closet, where it will remain on a green plastic hanger until it decays into nothingness in the fullness of time.
So I understand where you are coming from, OP, and sympathize what you are trying to do by making Allen's replacement look like a Benedict himself. But the fact of the matter is, Terry did the right thing here, and was well and truly abandoned by his organization.
Ray is a scumbag hypocrite, not worthy of the measured, reasonable defenses that people have made here on his behalf. Sooner you come to the realization that you've been had, sooner you can move on, imo. I for one am very happy that there are now a lot of other people on the Bradley Bandwagon.
