we need a big guard, a good defender who can shoot, Lee seems a pretty good fit.

OJ Mayo would be another but I don't like him, and he'll be more expensive too.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Depends on how much he will cost. Isn't he a RFA?

I'd love to have him though. His defense off the bench alone is worth paying. His solid shooting adds up too.

correct me if i'm wrong, Rockets didn't give a qualifying offer, so he's UFA now.

he's making 2.5m last year, 1.2 steals and 40% 3FP, i think 2 years 8m will be fair?

We can't pay him $4m.  He can get the BAE for $2m a year. The only way Lee is coming here is if he's seeing it as a way to build his value towards getting a multi-year deal next summer, as Bass just did.

This is the kind of value signing the Cs need to keep up with what the heat just did. Someone like Lee or JR Smith taking short money to play here.

I can't believe some team won't throw a little money at lee, though.  He's an athletic guy with decent size, and he shoots well -- 44/39/83%.  Maybe a S and T for JJJ, Williams and Dools at $2m, which could allow the Cs to give Lee around $5m.

There's no realistic way to get him here.

There's no realistic way to get him here.

Houston has no PGs.  Dools as a one year vet at $2m is at least possible.  Dools, flotsam and a first in a S and T could possibly get him here.

I don't see it happening.

Too many other teams interested in Lee with more money to offer.

I have seen Chicago and DC listed.

Could see a team like Dallas or Minnesota being interested.

He's definitely not worth a first round pick alone

::)Yeah, let's just close our eyes and dream of a magical world, where we somehow manage to get Lee. Why don't we just get Jason Terry as well, since we're in lala land. (laughing) and why don't we just go ahead and ask Leandro Barbosa if he wants to come play the E'twan Moore 5th guard role from last year!

Why don't we grab a starting caliber 7' center for a minimum deal while we're at it.

I'm sorry to be so sarcastic, but we need to get real. This isn't NBA2K13. We're lucky that Ray wants to sign a three year deal for 6 million per. And JJJ looks like he's up to 226.5 pounds now.

Anywho, Celticsbloggers, cheers to an off-season for the history books. Thanks Danny, and thanks Doc for making Boston such an attractive destination to free agents league wide.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
There's no realistic way to get him here.

You know, in some ways, Roy is actually still correct. Us getting Lee was in no way realistic.

The real story is how attractive Boston has become for NBA free agents. The Lost Weekend years have been forgotten by the new generation of NBA players.

I mean, this offseason was so good it's almost embarrassing. There will be some hate if Boston wins the title, calling us Yankees of the NBA.

Terry, Lee, Darko, Green, Barbosa, they all look primed for big years playing for Doc and Rondo.

And they all chose Boston, sometimes at personal expense.

Plenty of teams would have liked to sign Darko and Barbosa. Those late bargain additions might make a huge difference between winning 18 or not.

That ability to attract players is surely worth several million dollars a year above Doc's coaching contract, and might even give Doc some serious clout in the draft process in the future.
