Lots of people around here dogging ray, thinking he can't play.  Couldn't be further from the truth.  Indeed, the double whammy of him going from Bos to Mia virtually guaranteed the heat a  cakewalk through the east.

Yeah, I know a bunch of you will come back with sarcastic remarks and call me a negative nancy but this one really hurts.  And looking at how he was treated the last few years by management, I can't say I blame Ray.

You are assuming Miami will be healthy all season

They lucked out this year with good health overall

and Rose going down as well as half of the celtics being hurt

Miami won't make it

Bone Spurs, they don't just go away either.

To be honest

if we had a servicable JO and had Wilcox, Green, Bradley, and Ray healthy we would've won it all last year

They were the favorites before they got Ray. That's a big bullet they just added with him.

Ainge's goal was to beat them with really good depth. Ray going there put a damper on that. C's will really have to count on Bradley now. He's really got to step up.

How he was treated by management ? So Ainge isn't allowed to do his job ?

Please, Ray got paid a handsome sum to play with this team. Put the big boy pants on and man up.

These things aren't written in stone. Anything could happen between now and June 2013.

Ray is essentially a replacement for Mike Miller, as far as his role of shooting three's.  This doesn't help Miami all that much.  They will be favored to repeat but are beatable especially if the C's can upgrade their backcourt defense.  In fact, Terry is probably a better defender than Ray.

Way too early to crown MIA champs again.

Wade missed some games due to various injuries. This is the main reason, I believe, that MIA courted Ray so much.

DWade will be 31 next year, and is clearly past his prime. They wanted Ray to shore up DWade.

They got him.

Now BOS just has to beat them. And they will.

I find it funny the banner ray has been fighting to get for the last 3 years or so he just said screw it and now hes gonna join a rival team and try to prevent us from getting that same banner. There's no honor in that. Hes not a true celtic and he belongs with the heat. Miami if healthy probably will win the east again realistically speaking but it will be another 6 or 7 game series and we won't go down without a serious fight but idk if it will be enough.

+1 here. The Heat are and have always been a Lebron James injury away from being extremely beatable. Ray Allen doesn't change that.

Are we really comparing the greatest shooter ever to Mike Miller? Come on now...

Jet will not be an upgrade on defense.

Mike Miller is more than a shooter. He is one of the best rebounder at his position. He is great at taking charges. Judas will only replace the shooting part.

There ya' go.  That's what I mean about it not being much if an upgrade (or any at all perhaps.

CelticSooner, I'm not dumb enough to say Miller is even close to Ray Allen as far as an overall player, but at this stage in Ray's career he is not hitting 3's significantly better than Mike Miller is.

Not according to +/-, Synergy's Sports PPP, nor by reputation.

Ray doesn't hit a better percentage, but he can get more shots up (5 vs 3) per game because Miller can barely walk any more and is strictly a spot-up shooter. That he can get so many up nonetheless speaks to the Wade and LBJ's ability to draw defenders and find open men.

On top of that, Miller is abysmal defensively, as in stinks, and only average from the FT line.  BTW, Miller hasn't retired or been amnestied yet either.  He's talking about getting surgery, so the player Ray actually is replacing is the Heat's other 3 point shooter James Jones.

This is not good for us no matter how you slice it.
