That is the order of players on the all time 3pt list if Ray resigns, along with Terry and Paul and Paul can be seventh by the end of next year.

Not bad, not bad at all

It's stupid to have Ray, Terry, Rondo, and AB all sharing the backcourt..Ray's got to go..just face reality

Well Ray probably isn't coming back, but ill take the depth if he wants. Injuries are probably going to happen considering most of our key players have canes.

Remind me how it's a stupid notion to increase the depth and quality of your team.

Reducing Ray's minutes even further when he was clearly upset with taking a backseat to Bradley and getting his minutes cut by Doc? Trying to give adequate minutes to four guards who all expect 28+ minutes? How is that not stupid? Our money could be much better spent.

How do you spend that money elsewhere?

Of the teams interested in Ray, there is no realistic sign and trade that makes this team better then Ray does.

And does anyone for a moment believe Doc will not use Ray at SF?

I'm sure Doc is salivating. After the scoring droughts over the past two years, there's just so much creativity to be had. I'd love to see 3s try to keep up with Ray, and a lineup of Rondo, Terry, Ray, (whoever, really - Bass, Green), KG would just be so versatile and dangerous offensively.

I don't really think Ray at the 3 is a problem defensively, it just hurts us on the boards. It also pushes Green more to the 4, which I see as a slightly bigger issue, but whatever.

Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey

Firstly, not your money.

Secondly, Ray, if he comes back, will be signed with a roster exception (specifically the Bird rule) and thus his salary doesn't count against cap room (of which we essentially have none of assuming Green signs).  So our options are sign Ray or sign someone for the minimum salary.  I'll take Ray.

(Yes, technically there could be a sign and trade, but that doesn't appear likely given teams whom appear interested and their available players to trade.)

I would hope the veteran minutes are spread across the team. That would ensure a fresher team come play offs. Perhaps you didn't notice, but when the Heat series wore on, their athleticism wore down the Celtics. Putting better players on the bench that can spell the starters alleviates that issue.

if the spurs can have parker, neal, manu, green.

why can't we do the same?,there's a huge chance this boston team is more successful with that formula.

Actually by using the full MLE we have committed to a $74 million hard cap.  Can't go over that number, bird rights or no.    Rays salary counts against it, and we can use the money in some other ways if we are smart about the order of contracts.  We'll see, I think Ray comes back.

I think so too. I see mostly downside for Ray if he picks up and heads elsewhere.  He is settled in here in New England, his son is getting treatment from the best doctors in Boston and he gets to compete for a championship.

There's plenty of minutes to go around.  JET is coming off the bench, Bradley may not be ready at the start of the season and of course there's the injury factor.  Assembling a deepcteam is the goal for this off-season, it is not a problem.
