I for one am happy that the Mavs didnt re-sign him. He was a terrible teammate last season with his little "Pay Me" cries over the entire season and was a terrible defender throughout his tenure here. Delonte was a much more productive player, so hopefully we can get him back. - dirkforpres

How quickly we forget all the good he did for this organization. Which I don't think the deal is finalized yet because being the classy guy JET is he said he was going to give the Mavs a chance to match. Either way though JET will always be an all time Mav great! - mffl_14

35 when the season starts, massively undersized for a SG, horrible defensively, one-dimensional and his one-dimension - scoring - has declined 3 years in a row, etc. so why would we want to have him on the roster for 3 more years? Tks for the memories. -mavschick

sigh--you guys are so going to miss Jet and everything he brought to this franchise on and off the court. So he likes to run his mouth and get paid--thats part of what makes Jet special. It probably is time to turn that page but we are going to miss him on the court and Im looking forward to his banner going up alongside Dirk's someday.

He gets my standing O every single time he steps on the court here. -Texas Chuck

Pretty much what you expect.  Some bitterness, some rationalizing, some appreciation, some sadness.

If Dallas doesn't get Deron and Dwight both they will be stupid not to have matched JETs 3yrs/15million offer from Boston. Jet is a complete bargain at that price especially compared to Joe Johnson or Steve Nash at the expected 3yrs/36 million he will recieve.
I was all for Jet leaving when I thought he would demand 3yrs/30million but not at this bargain price.
Dallas will miss him next season in a big way. -2011Champs

Ill miss JET, and game 6 of the finals will always be played over in my head, but its time to go. whether we contend or not this year, we have to AT LEAST get younger..and hopefully better. -k-lynch201

From MavsMoneyBall.com:

Quote
[T]he Celtics have continued to do what everyone says they shouldn't do---keep their core of aging players intact, while teams like the Mavs jettisoned the present for the future--and last month they were within one quarter of making another NBA Finals. Which they might have won. Then they re-signed KG for three more years.

Now they're on the verge of doing EXPLICITLY what the Mavericks won't do, which is sign Jason Terry. It's not quite, as near as I can tell, a done deal, and if I were pitching numbers I could live with for Terry, 3 years and the MLE sounds about right. But as our Alan Smithee points out below, Terry is probably a Celtic and, once again, another team made the plunge the Mavericks wouldn't make.

Obviously, none of us would ACTUALLY rather be a Celtics fan. But how do you feel?

If Ray could somehow be convinced back for a reduced role, can you imagine a bench with JET, Ray, and Green? now we just need to work on our bigs

They have Kidd and Beaubois (Sp?) they should be fine. They do have some other holes however.

Kidd is a free agent.

Their loss is our gain.

Dallas is going to go from being an NBA champion to the toilet in a matter of two years.

Serves them right for laying all their eggs in the baskets of trying clear cap space for Howard and Williams.

Dallas is considering this too: Take a step back, clear cap space for the summer of 2013 and chase free agents Dwight Howard and Chris Paul.

They're screwed.  They blew up a championship squad to be able to attract Williams and he's not coming.
