should increase dallas interest in bass, wouldn't mind if we got JET thru a sign and trade and left our MLE to go after a big. If c's pay jet 5 million then dallas should be able to offer bass up to 7.5 million

What MLE-level big is out there who is better than Bass?

This page isn't opening up for me, but in the title it seems to suggest that Terry could be part of a S&T. Perhaps someone has better luck
 accessing it.

I tried too. No luck in Safari.

Hope this doesn't make Dallas reconsider and go for Terry.

I'm shocked, I was positive he was going to the Mavs.
How did you manage to convince yourself of that ?

... Good for Brooklyn... Always seemed the most likely scenario.  This takes the pressure off them to throw everything at Orlando.  Magic might have shot themselves in the feet by not jumping at the nets offer

hey I rather take haywood or marion ahead of bradon, in a sign and trade, haywood has genuine size and marion is a better defender, haywood would be signed for a further 3 and marion a further 2, the c's could probably squeeze something else form them. Rather that than have bass for 4 years 6-7 million per

Dallas screwed up not resigning chandler last year.

Uhh we would be getting Terry...

I am guessing the deal would be for Bass or Ray. Bass did used to play for the Mavs.

I think I read something from this guy earlier today. He gave no specifics at all, and I have a hard time figuring out exactly what the Celtics would give up in the S&T.

Just some guy throwing stuff against a message board, methinks.

HOW might Jet leave the Mavs runway? - By Mike Fisher
By Mike Fisher
DALLAS - The offer is there for Dallas Mavericks free-agent guard Jason Terry: a three-year deal worth the full MLE ($5 million annually). But DB.com/FOXSports has learned that there are two moving parts the Mavs wish to investigate before wishing Jet a respecful goodbye.
First is Terry's stated desire to provide Dallas the chance to match Boston’s offer. His relationship with Mavs bosses Mark Cuban, Donnie Nelson and Rick Carlisle is strong - and so is his legacy as a key contributor to Dallas' 2011 NBA title
How and why would Dallas match?
While it is believed that Jet at 34 and at $5 mil doesn't generally fit Dallas' long-term plans, his depature from Dallas would be cemented if the Mavs are successful in out-courting the Nets and signing free-agent Deron Williams. In that sense, Jet's offer seems a courtesy for show.

But consider the possibility of Deron opting to leave the Nets. Consider the ways the Nets and Mavs might thereafter discuss a sign-and-trade. I know, I know, Nets followers continually say Brooklyn will refuse to deal with a departed Deron that way. In fact, a Mavs source tells me, "They won't be in the mood'' to deal with Dallas if Deron jumps home to Texas.
But not trying to do a deal that benefits all is illogical. So an educated guess at a prediction: IF Deron opts to come to the Mavs, the Mavs and Nets will discuss a sign-and-trade that could land Brooklyn a cheap player (like Roddy B), a draft pick or two and a massive trade exception ... all made possible if Terry is involved in the transaction as part of a three-way with Boston.
A sign-and-trade would allow Dallas to retain some assets, would give Boston its new shooting guard and would provide Brooklyn weaponry that some might think better than "just'' cap room. The TE involved in such a swap could be used by Brooklyn in an ensuing transaction -- maybe even one with Orlando to help them pursue Dwight Howard, who is on the radar of the Nets, Mavs, Lakers, Hawks, Rockets and others. (The TE wouldn't work directly for Dwight for Orlando; but it could be used in a separate deal to take on The Hedo Headache, and that could be a deal that coincides with a Dwight move).

Terry, the 2009 Sixth Man of The Year Award Winner, shot a 43-percent from the floor last season and 38-percent from beyond the arc. He averaged 15.1 points per game. He may serve as a replacement for Ray Allen, though Boston would like to retain him, too.
Jet wishes someday to have his jersey retired at Dallas' AAC. But first it appears he will play under the vaunted banners in Boston ... though there are some machinations that may make his path there an indirect one.

This hypothetical is rendered moot by Williams' decision to remain with the Nets.

I am too. Hope Dallas doesn't reconsider.

Man I get the feeling Brooklyn is going to be very tough to matchup with next season for all teams.

Where does Dallas go from here?

I am struggling to come up with any ideas for them to field a title contender next season. Perhaps not even the year after. What age would Dirk be then? Yikes.

really hurts PP...we need to save him minutes with Green...face it...we lose terry and Ray becomes a must...we lose them both....we have some problems at the 2...even with bradley coming back...boston would have no offensive punch off the bench...we can't waste spots on guys like daniels and sasha anymore...we need a bench
