Can we make a trade for Smith, while avoiding luxury tax ?

From what I have read on several forums, we can't make trades where we take on more salary than we send out, if we're avoiding luxury tax.

So we have at no point during the season any chance of getting Smith who has a 15% trade kicker ? (To make 15.180.000M if traded).

Do we have to match or send out more money ?
