I feel that even though he's in his prime, it doesnt mean much if he's not signing with Celtics. I have a feeling that his talent and abilities aren't even going to be maximized and utilized to their full extent if he signs with another team.

I think Bass will be back, and if he were to leave, its because we couldn't give him the money he wants

but I do think Boston is Bass' first choice

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think Bass leaves if he gets a strong offer for 3 years and 15 million or more.

Could be S&T, could not, depending on each teams' needs.

Sign + trades exchanging Camby and Bass make some sense for both teams.

i want bass back. bass fit this team perfectly, no matter how 1 dimensional he was. he is a top priority to sign back as ainge said

with KG, bass, green, sully. JJJ, and possibly wilcox, we are STACKED at pf

And this is a good thing?

If Bass is looking to get paid perhaps we can do better. Josh Smith would be one option; but he would not come cheap.-
we're not getting josh smith, so stop suggesting it.

Pretty ironic coming from AUSTIN RIVERS WILL B A CELTIC!! <3 XOXOXOX (just saying...)

isn't houston trying to trade away scola? they have scola plus morris, jones and whyte, i think that's enough undersized fours

Yeah but Bass can actually play, while they might be able to play. Much the same issue the Cs face. Depends how competitive they think they'll be next season.

Conventional wisdom says you're right, but something is up in Rockets land. If Moray is going to move a good chunk of his young assets, who knows? It means he won't have to spend the MLE on a 4 ready to contribute right away.

But even if there is more money I don't think he'll take it.

I disagree.  This one is about the money.  Bass I understand walked away from a player option of just under 5 million a year.  He is looking for  somewhat of a payday, and at the end of the day may be able to scrap up about 7 million a year, which I think is a price DA is not willing to spend.

Obviously, it's all about what Brandon wants.  He turned down a 5 m player option for a reason- he had a career year, and when you have a career year that coincides with a contract ending, you cash in on that. 3yr/24m or 4yr/30m is not out of the question for him.
As far as the celtics are concerned, Bass is a perfect fit for THIS incarnation of the team, but I'm not sold on his value to us in the post-Big-3 era.  By that point I envision Jeff Green and Sullinger will be eating up a whole lot of minutes at the 4 spot. I really don't think that we should sign Bass for more than 2 years when his role might be diminished by the 3rd year.  We should aim to retain his services in the present but not at the expense of our future financial flexibility.
I think that we can safely offer Bass something in the area of 2yr/15m. Maybe a little bit more money than that, but I really don't think we should add years.

He is a 4 and KG wants to play the Power Forward slot from now on.  He is a therefore terrible fit.  We need a center, not another power forward.  Same reason why we can't have Josh Smith.  It's not a video game where you just trot out your best on paper line up.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

If he is the best 4 we can get, he will probably play starting power forward with KG playing center. KG signed for three years and he will do whatever Doc Rivers wants- as he's stated multiple times. If Doc wants KG at center, he'll play center. He was a 20/10 center in the playoffs with a defensive effort that was godly.

Consider that if KG playing center means he has a better chance of winning another ring, he will do it.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

This one is not hard.  Bass wants the money.  The problem is, while he made significant contributions to the Celtics run, and is in his prime, Boston should not pay him anything close to what he wants.  5 mill a year max under the new cap.  Bass is seeking 7-8 million, which he is just not worth.  He is great sign and trade bait.  That's where his value comes in.

And as far as the starting lineup: what about Rondo, Bradley, Green, Garnett and the Center
with Ray and Paul off the bench.....
