You're missing the point.

This isn't just about who should start: it's if it comes down to Ray staying and starting or leaving, Ray staying and starting is better.

If it comes down to that, you have to let him leave.

Yup. Player signs a contract to play for a team in a role that best helps them to win. The coach determines that role, not a player. Can't let the tail wag the dog.

If Ray wants to sign with the C's, he has to accept whatever role is assigned to him. Period. End of story.

If that isn't good for him, sorry to say it, but Ray needs to go.

10 games for AB these playoffs, 25 min/game, .368 FG%,
 .225 3ptFG% (!!) , 2 REB, 0.8 AS, 0.6 BLK, 0.8 STL and 6.7 pt/game. And he didn't pas my eye test suring playoffs.

If two months in which we had best record with him starting is a good sample, is 10 playoff games good enough as well?

AB is to me still an unproven combo guard, I wish him nothing but success and I would be pretty happy if he starts this year and becomes an All Star, but it is a big if.

If this guy was in any team not named celtics, I'd look at him and say that he is good, undersized combo guard with excellent altheticism and defense intelligence, but poor ball handler, prone to overaggressive play that leads to stupid fouls, and most important- injury prone (rookie year ankles that he reinjured during season, this year groin and shoulders, too much missed time for such a young guy).

Basically a 2nd yr guard with lot of upside and heart.

I say again that I hope he will be playing even better this year, but I thought the same for Tony Allen and G. Green as well. We ll see I guess.
My point is that he is no golden cow, and I don't care who starts as long we have both of our guards back in full strenght.

I'm assuming Ray Allen would leave
He's already seen all the attention go to Avery Bradley and I feel he's sour about his limited playing time

He secretly wants to be a starter, when I'm not sure he's capable of being one with his limited defensive capabilities

And if the Jason Terry deal goes through, that would most likely be the nail in the coffin

If the Celtics have a healthy Avery Bradley, Ray Allen, and Jason Terry on the roster, I would like to see Bradley finish games in crunch time.

So I just read the ESPN article and heard Broussard explain the upcoming Ray Allen visits with the Clips and MIA.

So he would probably have an opportunity to start in Clipperland - next to CP3.

In MIA, he'd come off the bench more than likely, but would probably see significant time with Wade seemingly getting injured more.

I'm sure MIA will probably court him more...LeBron wants someone like Ray to help extend Wade's playing time. Wade will turn 31 next year.

To be honest, I found it rather strange that he is doing the visits.

Just my opinion.

We all know that Ray Allen has probably been the most "Traded" player on BOS over the last few years. With that being said, it's normal for a player of Ray's caliber to be wanted and courted.

I don't blame him for that.

With BOS, I think they can offer him more money than the Clips. I'm sure we can offer him more than MIA.

But at this point I'm not even sure that it's about money for Ray. If he's chasing a 2nd ring, the Clips won't give it to him. Blake and DeAndre won't develop fast enough as Bigs to push the Clippers past even the Lakers, much less OKC or Spurs.

MIA? As the defending world champions, I guess they could offer Ray a 2nd ring. But even then it's no guarantee there, either. BOS pushed them to 7 games without AB, Jeff Green, or Wilcox.

AB and hopefully JG and Wilcox will be back next year and ready to go. In a 7 game series vs MIA a year from now, with AB, JG and Wilcox (in addition to Jet, Rondo, KG, Paul and the rooks?

We will beat MIA, no question in my mind.

Even IF they have Ray.

Don't do it, Ray.

It is Ray's right to shop around, I suppose. But I hope he doesn't end up somewhere he regrets. He needs to come on back to BOS - he will more than likely start, being that AB will be recovering. And if he is playing well enough, I can see him remaining a starter even as AB returns.

If AB does in fact start over Ray down the line (provided he returns), then wouldn't a 2nd string backcourt of Jet and Ray just be DEADLY? With Jet, Ray would have a legitimate PG/SG that could get him the rock with the 2nd unit.

What 2nd string PG on MIA will get him the rock? Norris Cole is a nice player, BUT:

JET > Norris Cole.

Ray just needs to come on back to BOS. I hope he enjoys his visits, but once the wining and dining is done, BOS offers him the best opportunity, here.

lol at everyone thinking AB is going to be a starter in this league by cutting and shooting wide open corner threes that nobody cared about

This isnt little league, when hes a starter teams will figure it out , then AB has to show who he truly is

and at 6'1.5 , its gonna be tough...right now his defense is carrying him along with 3 hall of fame players

some of you are just really do not know the game.

Did your eye test happen to catch him coming out of multiple games because his shoulder had popped out of socket?

Are teams ever going to figure out that players like Novak, Mike Miller and James Jones like to shoot threes? Because they get open looks all the time.

More like a reason, the kid ended up being ruled out for the playoffs because he was going to endanger his career with cartilege damage to his shoulders if he kept it up.

Really, Novak did what in the playoffs, shoot 9 shots in 23 minutes a game? 5 games total? 9 shots? 4 for 9 , 2 threes in the last 3 minutes of a blowout game 1.

When you got Lebron James and Wade your going to get open looks no matter what...see Shane Battier? or did suck pierce on closing out on him?

Ray Allen is a different specimen on shooting, he doesnt have to be completely open to get off and make a 3,

Mike Miller or Novak cannot shoot a 3 unless they are open for 5 seconds with nobody around

REALITY is the kid is 6'1, 6'2 at best, 180 pounds

and is going to be a SHOOTING GUARD?

are you kidding me? I love Bradley's game and i wouldnt care if he was starting at this point

But some people in here are pumping this guy up to be a great statrtiing shooting guard. I have my doubts.
