Disclaimer: this thread assumes that Ray, Jeff Green, Wilcox, Pietrus, and Dooling all resign. Bass is included only as a possibility though I think he is gone.
It seems to me like we have a possible good problem next year in that we will have a roster filled with guys who need PT, and most who deserve it. I am going through the combinations of lineups in my head right now and it is making me dizzy. Wanted to start a thread to get everyone's ideas on how a "typical" regular season 2012-2013 game will go from a substitution/rotation standpoint.
My rule for this final go-round with the Big 3 is the 60% Rule. This rule applies to every 48-min regular season game. This means that in each game, no member of the Big 3 should play more than 60% of the minutes, which is roughly 29 minutes a night.
Here is my timeline for how we comply with the 60% rule:
Start of 1st: Rondo, AB, Pierce, Bass, KG
5 min in: Rondo, AB, Pierce, Bass, Stiemer
7 min in: Rondo, Ray, Green, Sullinger, Stiemer
10 min in: Moore/Dooling, Ray, Green, Sullinger, Wilcox
Start of 2nd: Moore/Dooling, AB, Green, KG, Wilcox
3 min in: AB, Pietrus, Green, JJJ, Sullinger
5 min in: Rondo, Ray, Pierce, JJJ, Sullinger
7 min in: Rondo, Ray, Pierce, Bass, KG
Halftime
Start of 3rd: Rondo, AB, Pierce, Bass, KG
5 min in: Rondo, AB, Pierce, Bass, Stiemer
7 min in: Rondo, Ray, Green, Sullinger, Stiemer
10 min in: Moore/Dooling, Ray, Green, Sullinger, Wilcox
Start of 4th: Moore/Dooling, AB, Green, KG, Wilcox
3 min in: AB, Pietrus, Green, JJJ, Sullinger
5 min in: Rondo, Ray, Pierce, JJJ, Sullinger
7 min in/Stretch Run: Rondo, Ray, Pierce, Bass, KG
Going back over this I do not envy Doc's job at all next year, but here are the total minutes per player:
Rondo: 38
Pierce: 28
KG: 26
Ray: 24
Bass (or other 4): 24
AB: 20
J. Green: 20
Sullinger: 18
Stiemer: 10
Wilcox: 10
Moore/Dooling: 10
JJJ: 8
Pietrus: 4
The only thing I would change here is I would lower Rondo's minutes to 34 and give AB or Etwaun 4 more minutes at the PG. But Rondo has averaged 37 minutes a game for 3 years and I don't see Doc changing that.
