An idea that I've been tossing around in my head ever since we acquired Jeff Green is to have Green start in place of PP.  Ray as a 6th man works pretty well but I think PP is a much more ideal player for that role. Since he can create his own shot without relying on others [read: Rondo] to create for him, he might be a better source of instant offense off the bench.  Add to that the fact that PP at point-forward is our best option for a backup PG [I do think Dooling should be back, but only as a locker room presence- he looked pretty lost running the sets all year. But, looking back on Rajon Rondo's career when it's all said and done I think we might have to credit the arrival of Dooling with Rondo's maturation into a true superstar.

Imagine a starting lineup of:
Rondo- Ray- Jeff Green- KG- Asik/Camby/whoever we use the MLE on
with PP and AB quickly coming off the bench (together) to provide a 1-2 punch of instant-offense AND instant-defense.  AB/PP combined would be the greatest 6th man in NBA history.
Thoughts?

Word is the bidding on Asik started at $8M.

Wow. Cross Asik off our list then. The Fab Melo pick looks better every day.

Yeah, $8 million for Asik is looney.

Jeff Green will become a starter at some point. The teams problem was they could only last 3 qtrs they would lead and just blow a full qtr. That tells me fatigue is a factor, Doc gets nervous about pulling the Stars out but their showing their age. I would love Doc to sit them down more trust Rondo to get the role players involved.

Why I think Jeff Green (young & Healthy) is a MUST sign situation for the C's

agreed.  we all know for PP and KG to play at a high level and high intensity this year and through the playoffs they have to have less minutes...pure common sense. Them being worn out sucking wind is not much better than some mediocre FRESH guys. Just using that as a analogy.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

This is why Green is key.
Also having someone who can defend larger SG's or quicker Sf's. Not sure Pietrus is the answer.

Yep, also in favor of letting Jeff Green start for us and Pierce coming off the bench, it would make us dangerous as hell even with our bench out there.

Bradley's Defensive is incredible he just lacks size, Bass played well but instill think we should trade him. OJ Mayo would be a great pick up. Jeff Green give Pierce a much needed break just not sure of his ISO ability.  The prices are in place just some fyne tunning.  Need to get faster and still put up points and Defense while the All Stars rest.

8 m for Asik??? That is a high asking price for someone who played 15 mpg last year.  I forgot how insane NBA GMs can be when they have cap space to spend.
I am starting to think that our best (and maybe only) option is to bring back Bass, Wilcox, and Steamer [of course, only if they come for reasonable prices] and use the MLE on the player with the highest value regardless of position.  I just see no viable FA C options that aren't going to cost us way too much [Asik, Spencer Hawes, Kaman]  We should not overpay when we can easily re-up with a 2.0 version of last years squad [Basically the exact same roster except with the addition of the heart-condition twins, a rookie who might actually have an impact [sully] and our monster back-court [RR-AB] ready to dominate the NBA from day 1]

I'd like see him play a little less, but the guy was hurt at the end of last year.  Defensively, he is still very good provided he is healthy.  A lot of guys wouldn't have been playing last year with the injuries he had, keep that in mind.

2012/13 Celtics starting five:
PG: Rondo   Johnny Flynn
SG: Bradley  O. J Mayo, Ray
SF: Green    Pierce
PF: Garnett  Jujuan Johnson, Sullinger
C:   Steisma Camby, Melo

Trade Bass for Mayo. Sign Ray for MLE add Melo, Sullinger and Jujan into the rotation.

I think Asik is worth around $7-8 million. Same as Perk. As a 26-28mpg starter.
