We'll need low price veterans who are great locker room presences to round out the roster.  Mickael Pietrus and Keyon Dooling were exceptional in those roles last season.  They can even play a little when called upon.

I'm all for bringing those guys back.

I still think we have a poor bench with Dooling and Pietrus, Pierce, KG Ray? will be one year older, we need help, this is not enough.

And I think players are more interesting free agent Dooling and Pietrus, They are exceptional guys, they adapted well, I do not resign them.

Delonte is better than Dooling, Michael Redd?, T-Mac?, Do not know, but there are good players available in free agency.

All 3 injury prone.

Yes but will any of them

1) Come as cheap as Pietrus or Dooling thus leaving the Celtics use the extra cap room to put towards getting an impact guy in a S&T for Bass

2) Accept playing 5-7 minutes a game, T-Mac probably won't

3) Fit into the system and be a model teammate

These guys are the type that title contenders round out the roster with, solid subs that can give you 5-10 minutes a game without doing anything stupid and playing okay defense.

Man, I would love to have Delonte back. Yes, he's injury prone, but as a 4th guard, why not? He would probably sign for the minimum and you have to love his heart and tenacity.

This is true, but also remember JJJ has a year under his belt as does Moore. Bradley made a huge leap last year, Dooling did what he was supposed to do as a backup point guard last year. Sullinger was rated as one of the most NBA ready prospects in the draft and should have gone in the top 10 (that isn't smoke by Ainge, these are facts) Green will come along after a slow month and has a good chance to become the Celtics 6th man. Our bench is deep and young, be excited about that...you're going to see a well rested KG RA and PP and RR if all goes according to plan

I like Delonte too, something tells me that the cHeat aren't attempting to secure his services though...

Things right now depend on Ray but assuming the 2@$6M gets it done our signed gaurds would be Rondo, Bradley, Allen.  We have a very affordable TO on Moore so I don't see how we do better for the money with him.  So we need one more PG to play behind Rondo and Bradley and then another SG who would actually likely play behind Bradley as well.  I don't see the problem of Dooling being the 3rd PG or how much better you think the team would be if we find someone else.

Same with Pietrus, he would be kind of 2.5 on the depth chart at both SG and SF (assuming Bradley splits time between 2nd PG and 2nd SG and Jeff Green splits 2nd SF and PF).  Not sure I see the value in trying to upgrade from that either.

If for what ever reason, we don't sign Dooling, that is not a big deal. I guess you could argue a comparable but younger player with potential upside might be better but how much upside can you expect from your 3rd PG?
