Indiana did not offer a max deal, and Hibbert is now leaning to Blazers unless Pacers match. One other unnamed team offered max.

So much for owners losing money. If you're even a halfway decent big man you'll get PAID in this league.

KG's going to look like a bargain by the end of the free agent period.  Not surprised at Hibbert offer as Paul Allen's pockets are very deep, but I'd be shocked if Indy didn't match.

I'm not sure but don't the coaches pick the All Star bench?
Or is that the all NBA teams?
I think Hibbert is worth 12-14 million considering he's probably going to peak in the middle of this contract once he gets it.
If he continues to improve he'll be an absolute weapon.
Height and skill combos of this nature are about one in 2 billion on this earth. I mean if Kwame gets 8 million then surely hibbert is worth 12?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

Aldridge/Hibbert will be an awsome front court. Hibbert is probably the best big guy that Portland can hope to get within the next couple of years.
Hibbert does everything a big man is supposed to do at a very high level, and I would have loved to see him in green. But that would only be possible, if KG retired, so I'm actually happy, that Hibs isn't coming to Boston.

Man I don't know.  A max deal is a lot of money for a guy who averaged 13 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks.  But he's still only 25... maybe still developing.  Only averaged 29 minutes a game... maybe he has the capacity to be a 20 and 10 guy.  Maybe.  I don't know.  Risky.

Does Indiana match?

The Pacers would be crazy not to match.

They knew the risk letting Hibbert test the market. He's a legit 25 y/o 7 foot tall All Star center. Even I could negotiate him a max deal.

The Pacers developed Hibbert from a foul committing egg to an All Star. They have the cap room. Why not match and reap the rewards of their development work?

The prime years for NBA  players are from 26-30/31...maybe 35 if you take frequent trips to Germany. Portland is trying to buy the prime years of Hibbert's career. Again, why not match?

WOW...from near bottom feeder to max deal.  Impressive.

Centers (decent) ones art so rare ,  the GM's are just paying crazy money for average ones.  And near worthless ones are being chased.

This is what kills teams. Giving players max deals that are not franchise players.

If I was Indy I would try to do a sign and trade, I'm not sold on Hibbert being a franchise player. I'm thinking he's in that next group at best.

Players have to get what the market lets them.

I think teams are more willing to overpay now in this new CBA with these shorter 4 year maximum deals.

Stupid offer from Portland. It'll ruin their team.

Indy would be extremely foolish to match this. Let him go.
