personally, I think its time to move on from Ray. He will not be as good with another team. Doc ran a lot of stuff for him. Miami's offense will not run him off screens and Spolstra is not nearly as creative drawing up plays and out of bounds plays.

Good point.

Also doesn't Rondo make Ray a better player?

Um, KG is not playing PF at this stage of his career, Sullinger has a questionable back and hasn't played a single game in the NBA, Johnson has been a complete zero so far, and I've seen nothing indicating we're even considering getting Wilcox back.

So yeah, not only will we be smart to keep Bass, but he'll probably also be a safe bet as the opening day starter.

Errr, dude you realize that KG does NOT want to play Center right? so if he's not starting at PF or C, where is he gonna play? and no he's not going to come off the bench....

Rondo manages to find him in just the right moment, but he'll be  way more open in Miami. It's a wash, I think.

He didn't want to play C last year either. That didn't stop him from doing it, or from being exponentially better at this position.

Also, I'm not "dude" -- not for you, at least.

and why did Ainge draft Fab Melo if not to return KG to PF? i realize it'll take a while for the kid to develop, but if Ainge's intentions were to keep KG at C, why did he not draft more athletic PFs?

at this point in his career, KG offensively is better at center..its the same reason that Duncan plays center.

while he may have lost a step to have an advantage against opposing PF's he is still faster/better than most centers in the league..

the key is going to be getting KG's minutes down...he should play no more than 25-30MPG during the regular season IMO..we need him fresh for the playoffs

For several reasons: Ainge stated he's drafting BPA; you typically don't pass on 7-footers who can walk and chew gum (although I'm not sure it's always such a good idea; see Olowokandi, Michael); most importantly, as you pointed yourself, Melo is quite a bit from being ready for anything. If I had to bet, I'd guess the team doesn't project him as ready to start at any point before Garnett's contract ends.

i see your point about BPA, like most people here I wasn't thrilled about the Melo pick and don't think he was BPA at that point.
im not convinced KG is starting at C next year. if he does, the key is managing his minutes, yes, but also getting another banger who can rebound, which Bass most assuredly is not. guess we'll see come season start.

I like Tanguay but he also thought KG was retiring. I respect his opinion but hes missed on the last few. He could very well be right but i dont think for sure.

Tanguay's only "sources" are Blakely and Donny Marshall, who both also know nothing.
