So the draft is just about done now, we know who our picks are, and although some folks are happy with Danny's choices, quite a few are not. What I'd like to say is just relax, take a step back, and think this through, because this could work out beautifully, and there are several reasons why.
1) Draft Day is only the first step of the offseason. We still have potential trades and free-agent signings to address the team's needs.
2) Draft picks tend to not make much of an impact on title-contending teams, especially a Doc Rivers-coached team, unless they're a lotto pick, which ours weren't--so maybe we should lower our expectations a bit.
3) We don't know Danny's full plan; he may not even keep these guys, deciding to instead package one or both in a trade to land a big-time free agent. Or he may keep one or both and they end up being solid contributors down the line.
4) Let's stop and consider the strengths of who we drafted: many consider Sully to be the best post player in this draft, and that's something we sorely need, and he's a good rebounder to boot, something we also are in dire need of; and many consider Fab to be the best post defender in this draft class, and that's a great asset to have, plus he's a good shot blocker, and since he's been playing the game only 5 or 6 years, he's got lots of room to grow. Plus he's a legit 7-footer with bulk, and should be a great defensive addition to a defensive-minded team. You all do remember that Perk was a project? And he turned out pretty well for us.
Listen, I understand the frustration of not having your personal favorites picked, but try to keep the big picture in mind. Me, I'm excited about all the potential of these guys (along with that of JJ and Moore). Suddenly we have a lot of youth, and a lot of possibilities to work with.
