Again, I never said "it has become clear that there is absolute evidence that Rondo is a locker room cancer". I have said and written that "there has been a lot of talk about it" and "IF" there is in fact a problem, it would make a possible scenario of trading Rondo to move up into the lottery.
By the way, there has been an overwhelming amount of chatter that Rondo, particularly early on and intermittently now has in fact had a lot of friction on this team. But I don't necessarily grounds for moving him in my book. Sometimes the things that make players the greatest also are their achilles' heel. I definitely believe this is the case with Rondo. It jsut requires working through it with the player until they fully mature and Rondo has clearly made strides each year, mentally and skills wise.
I have also said, I think twice now, in written language, that my preference would be to "NOT" trade Rondo but that I "COULD SEE" a possible scenario that has him leaving town.
I don't have a crystal ball so i think it's impossible to know who would come back based on who leaves, etc.,
I do think KG would come back as long as Pierce was here at a minimum, but who knows?
I do think this is a win now team. It wouldn't be a point guard dominated team, but particularly depending on who we could sign at center, it would definitely be a serious win now team and be loaded for the future. You know, swap out who you'd want for your picks at 6, 11, 21 & 22 - but you'd have a great young nucleus of players.
Free agent center / Steamer / Drummond (6th)
KG / Bass / JJJ
Pierce / Green
Ray / Pietrus
Bradley / Rivers (11th)
21st: Terrence Jones, Royce White, Moultrie?...
22nd: Ezeli, Melo, Quincy Miller, Nicolson, etc…
That’s a loaded team to win now and for the future –
Ultimately, in the end, my preference would be:
1. KG, Ray, Pierce and Rondo - all back
2. Green, Bass & Pietrus - back
3. Sign a legit Starting center out of free agency
4. Take two solid picks at 21 & 22 or move up for one pick in the 14 to 16 range if possible.
5. Position for the 2013 free agency with Rondo, Bradley, Green, JJJ, Moore, Steamer, our two picks and a boat load of cash.
But....

I'm not ruling anything out today.
