If he didn't have a work ethic he would not have completely transformed his body in one year. A process that continues as we speak.

This guy is going to be awesome in a 3 years.  ANybody that passes on him is a fool.

What a chance to get a Howard size player that is going growing into a Howard sized man and getting better everyday.

Many folk on this board dump on Melo for "being lazy"and having a "poor work ethic".

I believe much of this is reflective of many people's unhappiness with Melo and his educational pursuits or lack thereof.....being perceived as a spoiled athlete who blew off an educational opportunity that was "given" to him just because he is an athlete. I fully understand this sentiment, given how much I have valued education for myself and my four children....

....HOWEVER...a college education, while it should be accessible to all, is not for everyone.

For the people being judgmental about Melo's educational choices (which admittedly hugely negatively impacted his team and showed poor judgment born out of a lack of maturity), I have a question for you all:

From what I remember, DRose got another student to sit for his SATs for him. If you knew that and had the chance to draft DRose, would you have, given the lack of maturity, dishonesty and "laziness" that DRose's act (which to me is far more onerous)exhibited?

Just askin'

I would say he is mediocre at best but he is tall.  I hope we don't draft him 5-6 RPG in college is pitiful.   Some of his supporters are clearly big east homers.

Perk was never a monster on the boards. I'd rather the defensive enforcer be out challenging shots than playing meek defense and just going for the rebound. That's what Moultrie does, and Royce White to some extent.

Quote
Fab Melo and Andre Drummond also have good showings, with 4.7 and 3.9 blocks per 40 minutes pace adjusted respectively, showing that while both of these players are far from finished products on the offensive end, they are well equipped to defend the rim at the next level.

Melo is as good as we are going to get , unless we blow it up and go lottery.

Melo looks way better everyday , and is improving leaps and bounds and is growing , filling out into a GIANT of a man,  another two years of bulking up and he'll be staring down Dwight ( thats BAD BACK DWIGHT, who may never be right again)..... and smiling in his face.  ;D

What a STEAL to finally get a chance to have a true NBA center.

How can he e a bust if he hasn't even played a game in the NBA. Yes he has potential; but he is also very raw and still lacks coordination and timing. He is new to the game so you are gambling on upside potential. If you think Zeller and Leonard have already reached their potential it could be worth a gamble.
Glad its not my call.

Bust. How many projects ever turn out to be anything in the nba?

Just look at the video above where he is doing the shoot around. Missing everything within 5 feet.

I rather draft Festus Ezeli, but then again i rather just have Stiesnma then.

When I compare him to Meyers Leonard, I see two very similar players.  They are both very tall with good athleticism, but somewhat raw from a skills perspective.

I think Melo has a very good chance to have an as good, if not better, NBA career than Leonard.  Leonard's probably going lottery, though, and Fab will still be around in the 20s.

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

All about getting young mobile center. AB paned out , and 99% of us thought he was never gonna get it .

If we can't get White  , or RIvers , or such ..... then I'm for gambling and taking both centers Ezeli and Melo.

I'm greedy ... yes get the bigs ..and then make other teams swope alot for them.   Snag a good FA like Josh Smith next year with a trade for one of our young centers.

TWIN TOWERS ...DU IT DANNY !!
