I think Jeff Green, will sign with another team. If KG returns, then Pierce stays. That means Jeff, will have to be Paul's back-up again. If I was Jeff Green, why not sign with teams like the Magic, Bucks, Nets, Raptors, Lakers, Spurs, Wizards, where it's likely to get a starting spot.

Gets to win, will get starter minutes (he's likely to play a lot of 4) and he'd eventually become a starter.

Still, I'm holidng out for a sign & trade with him. I posted this in another thread, but I'd love to look into Paul Milsap. But that may take convincing Jeff Green to play in Utah. They should be a good team, but ya know, it's Utah.

Agents=politicians on the believability meter.

If either tell you the sun sets in the west, you better go look.

TP.

This is his agent we're talking about.

By 12-14 teams being interested in him, he likely means that he called 6-8 teams to see if they have interest.

And even if 12-14 teams have interest, it doesn't mean 12-14 teams a) have the cap room to afford him, and b) want to spend big money on Green.

I think Green would fit well at the three slot for the jazz and give them the opportunity to play some of the younger bigs more minutes.

Hoopshype's free agent rankings has Jeff way down at #58, only 14 spots ahead of old friend Gerald at #72. I don't think he should be ranked that low, but it's certainly more realistic than ranking him #2.

Well, I think this is kind of the same thing as when there were reports that Arron Afflalo was being called the first or second most sought after free agent last summer.  It wasn't that he was the best player on the market...but he was seen as the most attainable, and best bargain.

I have a feeling a lot of teams see Green and think they have the chance to get a guy who should be an 8 or 9 million player (or more if he performs up to his potential), for 3, 4, or 5 million.

Health questions or not, that will present a lot of suitors.

How many of those teams will be willing to shell out big $$$$ when they find out that no one will insure Green's contract?

This is the issue, and why Green is likely going to have to prove it next season before he gets his next big deal.  And I think a big reason he is getting so much interest is because he will be cheap compared to his talent level.

Everybody loves a bargain.
Yeah this is a bunch of teams inquiring for a bargain show me contract. And of course an agent pumping up his client as he should.

Trying to put pressure on the C's to make either a big one year offer, or actually commit to more than a team friendly length deal.

Speaking of Green's, what about our old friend Gerald?  Or, is that simply too much of a can of worms to open up?
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Can he still play SG/bench scorer?

But anyway, I really like JGreen's all-around game and think he can be a really fine #3 option.  With Rondo safely in the fold and a potential scoring option as well (apparently...), we seem to lack but a go-to shot maker in the halfcourt once Pierce hangs 'em up.

But I hope to not have to pay Green huge money.  I could see him as surely an 8-10M guy, but am quietly hopeing we gamble and lock him up long-term on a more friendly $5M per deal with generous incentives and bonuses.

Has anyone actually said Green is uninsurable?  He strikes me as a better chance of coming back at full capacity than someone with a history of knee injuries coming off of an injury like a torn ACL.

I think Green should get a four-year full MLE contract offer from some team.  I think the appropriate counter-offer from the Celtics, should they wish to keep him, would be two years at something more than $5m/year but less than $20m overall contract value.

I think the odds are in the Celtics favor that they will sign Jeff Green.  I also think there is a good chance that he would start.  Here is my prediction for next years starting line-up:

Bradley
Pierce
Green
Garnett
Trade/Rookie/FA/Steisma

This would mean that Rondo is traded (probably in a trade centered around a lottery pick) and Ray Allen doesn't come back.  Of course if Rondo isn't traded, you can still move Pierce to the 2 and start Green.
