I don't usually like to do this cause it's so tough to speculate, especially predicting the direction the current celtics are heading but screw it, that's what makes it fun!

Signings: (should have roughly 32 Mill)
Kevin Garnett-8mill/1year
Brandon Bass-5mill/2years
Chris Kaman-5.5mill/2years
Jeff Green-6mill/1year
Sonny Weems-1.5mill/1year
Greg Steimsa-1.5mill/2years
Kirk Hinrich-1.2mill/1year
Shannon Brown-4mill/2years (may have to use MLE)

Draft:
Moe Harkless
Fab Melo

Pg: Rondo, Hinrich, Moore
Sg: Bradley, Brown, Hinrich, Weems
Sf: Pierce, Green, Weems, Harkless
Pf: Garnett, Bass, Green, Harkless
C: Kaman, Steimsa, Melo

I tried to keep it realistic with no trades. Alternative free agents are guys I think we can afford without breaking the bank or giving long term deals to.

Other PG options, Andre Miller, Jason Kidd, Raymond Felton

Other SG options, Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry, Nick Young, Mickael Pietrus, Deshawn Stevenson

Other SF options, Terrance Williams, Chase Budinger, Andres Nocioni, Grant Hill, Dahntay Jones

Other PF options, Kenyon Martin, Kris Humphries, Carl Landry, Antwan Jamison

Other C options are Spencer Hawes, Marcus Camby, Kwame Brown

This team may not look like a championship team but it will certainly be competetive and a little more athletic..

No interest in Shannon Brown. Too small and limited as a defender/rebounder. Streaky and unreliable offensive game. I rate him as a weak backup SG.

So-so interest in Chris Kaman. I like Kaman as a fall-back option if superior options fall through. Ideally, I'd like to keep Garnett at the center position.

Yea I'd almost rather have Jason Terry, I think he would fit perfectly on this team for another playoff run

Terrence Williams is a stat sheet stuffer. Would be worth a shot IMO.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Looking at it, we're assuming that Ray Allen is not signing.

My thought, I'm so so on Kaman, but I like him. A big body who can help us in the interior, although it'll slide KG back to PF, that's a sacrifice I'd willing to make.

I like the Harkless pick, but I'd prefer Jeff Taylor.

As much as I love Hinrich's game, I'd rather have Avery playing some backup PG minutes.

No on Weems. Not that it's a bad signing, but I'd rather give whatever minutes we have left on the rooks.

No to Shannon Brown too. Instead, we should sign a backup SG that fits the role perfect, and that would be my binky (yes IP has one, I as well) Brandon Rush.

He's RFA but trust me, 4-5 million will be too much for Warriors to match. The dude is a straight shooter (our Ray replacement), solid defender, active on the boards.

But of course, the Rush signing is only if Ray walks away.

My lineup would be

Rondo / Avery / E'Twaun
Avery / Rush
Pierce / Green / Taylor or Harkless
KG / Bass/ Green / JJJ
Kaman / KG / Melo

That's pretty solid.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

I agree, this guy can jump out of the gym and is becoming a very good defender. Also, he has point forward type of ball handling

Rondo plays most of the minutes already. Bradley plays PG to give Rondo a breather. Also, we have a 2nd round pick, we could use it for a PG.

Rush is our Ray replacement here. Stretch the floor, shooter and add his solid defense.

I like Brandon Rush. Really good role player. Above average defense, solid rebounding, very good perimeter shooting and has improved considerably at finishing around the basket.

He should be starting somewhere.

Or playing back up but a lot of minutes for us? I mean why not.

Thoughts?

KG IS NOT SIGNING FOR 8M

Why?

Yes, we all know he is worth more.  But this is the end of his career as a player.
If he wants to win another title, he has to understand that any money he doesn't take goes towards a free agent signing.

This is one thing I don't quite get with NBA players.  They all talk about wanting to win a title.
Until its time to negotiate a salary.

Whatever money KG leaves on the table would be made up in the next two years of endorsements.

I suspect KG might have a say in the moves we make as well. Not a bad idea since he and Pierce got Hollins signed (Hollins may have sucked but he still helped).
